Work at
1542 Tulane Ave. is
focusing on the lower floors of the building. New fan coil units are being connected on the
2nd and 3rd Floors. The cabinets for the 3rd Floor lounge are in
place and the plumbing is complete in the 2nd Floor
lounge.
The contractor removed the old glass storefront from
the front of the 1st Floor and the new storefront
creating the 1st Floor lounge is in place. The interiors of Rooms 109, 341, 342 and 343
have been demolished and the reconfiguration is
underway. New ceiling grid has been installed in Rooms
199H and 319C and crews are working on the grid in
Rooms 111 and 111A.
New smaller wing walls have
been constructed in the Dental School Auditoriums
A&B.
These smaller walls will improve the sight lines
from certain sections of the auditoriums. The walls have been framed, dry walled,
taped, floated, primed and painted. An exhaust duct has been removed from the new
IT room to provide sufficient space for the new
equipment planned for the auditoriums.
The casework contractor has
been busy installing the new cabinets and counter
tops in the renovated labs on the 6th and 8th Floors
of the Dental School Clinic
Building. Base cabinets and shelving has been installed
throughout the 8th Floor spaces. Rolling tables have also been put in place in
selected 8th Floor labs. Counter tops are in place in Rooms 8405A,
8405B, 8405C, 8405D, 8405F and 8405G. The base cabinets and counter tops have also
been installed in Room 6335, as have the fume hood
and shelving. Water valves and drains have been installed
in several of the 8th Floor labs. The electricians and network wiring crews are
making connections to the new lab furniture.
The installation of the
exterior glass on the new stairwell at the Lions/LSU
Clinic Building has been completed. The installers are caulking the glass. The granite installers have begun installing
the granite on exterior surfaces of the stairwell. Ceiling tiles are being installed on the
Gravier St.
side of the 6th Floor, in the elevator lobby and in
the simulation rooms. Ceiling grid is being hung in the computer
lounge area. Sheet vinyl is going down in the simulation
rooms and VCT is being laid in the hallways. Carpet has been installed in selected spaces
on the 6th Floor.
The diesel fuel lines have been
installed on the Gravier St. side of the 1st Floor and all
the installed lines from the 1st Floor to the roof
have been tested and capped. Scrub sinks are in place in the simulation
rooms and supply air ducts have been installed. Medical air/gas/vacuum ceiling boxes were
installed in the simulation room. An acid drain line has been removed from
above the new switch gear. The electricians are making the final
connections to the roof mounted emergency generator. Safety strobes, speakers and exit signs are
being installed throughout the 6th Floor. Additional wiring has been pulled for the
Stryker equipment and light fixtures have been
installed on the
Gravier St. side of the
6th Floor.
The contractor working on the
Library Commons continues working on the display
case in the elevator lobby. The framing is substantially complete and the
glass is being installed. Wire has been pulled to the receptacles and
the LSUHSC Facilities electricians have started
installing the new wall switches. Air conditioning diffusers were installed in
the multimedia rooms, the elevator lobby and the
café area. The contractor completed installing the
column wraps and the ceiling tile in the cafe area. Facility Services installed a transfer switch
for emergency lighting and installed drains for the
coffee kiosk. The contractor installed supports for the
acoustical ceiling baffles.
The contractor painted the
metal doors in the MEB 2nd Floor lobby leading to
the lecture halls and the stairwells. They painted all the door frames and
continued installing break metal around the elevator
doors. A
drain line was relocated so that it is in line with
the new ceiling on the Bolivar Street side. Workers installed plumbing pipe for the water
coolers on the
Bolivar Street
side and installed one water cooler. The contractor began installing granite on
the columns. Electricians installed can lights around the
perimeter of the lobby and ceiling hanging fixtures
on the Roman St. side of the lobby. LSUHSC Facility Services re-routed existing
pneumatic lines so they will not be in the open
ceiling area.
The casework contractor
installed counter tops, sinks, cantilever arms, and
panels for the casework in MDL 6. The network wiring contractor terminated and
tested the new data ports and the electrical
contractor installed light switches and receptacles. The A/V contractor installed controller boxes
in the pedestal island. They have programmed and tested the new
audio/video equipment. The contractor installed partition panels,
the door frame and door for the storage room and
connected the drains to the eight sinks.
The contractor primed, patched
and painted the walls in the administrative area of
the MEB
Pharmacology labs. Ceiling grid has been installed in one of the
large laboratory spaces and much of the
administrative area. Workers painted a majority of the doorframes
and installed registers in the lab area. Exhaust ductwork was installed between the
administrative area and the exhaust chase, and
exhaust ductwork has been installed in the corridor.
The
contractor modified sprinkler heads in the lab area.
The contractor laid three
separate layers of the mortar bed in the two corner
lobby areas in the Residence Hall lobby. The contractor installed brick pavers on the
exterior side of the sliding doors and the workers
grouted the pavers. The crews continue framing the fur down in
the expanded lobby area. The mechanical contractor began running
sprinkler pipes in the expanded lobby area. The flooring contractor applied primer and
another layer of leveling concrete in the expanded
lobby area. The double sliding door and the single
sliding door on the Bolivar St./Perdido St.
side of the lobby are in place. The glass for both doors has been installed. Ceiling grid was installed in the back lobby
area in the C Tower. Additional fire alarm wires were run between
the A & B tower lobby areas. The contractor installed pendant light
fixtures in the back lobby area in Tower C.
The contractor installed the
electrical disconnect for new boiler at the Dental
School
and fabricated additional gas and steam piping for
connecting the boiler to the building systems.
The gas
piping and valves for the boiler were installed.
They assembled and prepped the boiler connections
for the scheduled system tie-in.
The
connection of the new boiler was completed and crews
insulated the steam line. Relief valves for the new boiler were
installed.
The work is just getting
underway on the roof replacement at the Allied
Health/Nursing Building. Substantial amounts of the new roofing
materials have been delivered and staged in a lot
across
Roman St.
from the building. The crews have started removing the old
ballast (gravel) from the roof.
Here are highlights of work
that has been accomplished during the past two
weeks.
REPAIR WORK AT 1542 TULANE AVE.:
- Painting:
- Offices and hallways
on the 3rd Floor are being painted.
- The center stairwell
between the 1st and the 4th Floors was
painted.
- Workers started
patching offices on the 2nd Floor.
- Lounge Areas:
- The furniture
contractor completed the installation of new
cabinetry in the 3rd Floor lounge.
- The plumbing for the
2nd Floor lounge was completed.
- The glass contractor
demolished the old storefront beside the
main entrance on Tulane Ave.
and completed construction of the new
storefront leading into the 1st Floor
lounge.
- They are working on
applying the trim to the new storefront.
- The electrical
contractor began the electrical rough-in in
the 1st Floor lounge.
- Misc.:
- The mechanical
contractor continues piping new fan coil
units on the 2nd and 3rd Floors.
- Crews began the
demolition and reconfiguration of Rooms 109,
341, 342 and 343.
- The granite contractor
repaired two holes in the granite walls on
the 1st Floor.
- Facilities personnel
demolished fan coil units and associated
piping in Rooms 109H, 110, 111, 341, 342 and
343.
- New windows were
installed in Rooms 335 and 345.
- The installation of
new suspended ceiling grid in Room 109H is
finished.
- LSUHSC Facility
Services completed installing the new
ceiling grid in Room 319C.
- Crews started
installing the new suspended ceiling grid in
Rooms 111 and 111A.
DENTAL AUDITORIUMS A & B RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor removed the
exhaust chase in the IT room.
- The contractor framed the
new wing wall in Auditorium B.
- They installed
sheetrock on the new wing walls in both
auditoriums.
- The contractor taped
and floated the new (smaller) wing walls in
both auditoriums.
- The contractor primed
and painted the wing walls in Auditoriums A
& B.
DENTAL 6th & 8th FLOOR LAB RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor installed
base cabinets and shelving in the large and
small rooms on the 8th Floor.
- The contractor installed
base cabinets and rolling tables for the lab
furniture in Rooms 8405C, 8405D, 8405F, and
8405G.
- Crews installed base
cabinets and countertops in Room 6335 and
installed new laminated wall panels in the
corridor to close the original door opening.
- The cabinet installers
installed countertops for the lab furniture in
Rooms 8405C, 8405D, 8405F and 8405G.
- The cabinet installers
installed the 4 ft fume hood and shelving in
Room 6335.
- The electrical contractor
ran the electrical wiring for the peninsulas in
8405A and 8405B, the recessed can lights in Room
8405E, the darkroom light fixtures in 8405D, and
the NEMA L6 - 250V outlet in Room 6335.
- The plumbing contractor
installed the water valves for the laboratory
sinks in Rooms 8405C, 8405D, 8405F, 8405G, and
8405H.
- The cabinet installers
installed the wall-mounted and peninsula
shelving in Suite 8405.
- The network wiring crew
installed the network wiring for the peninsulas
in 8405A and 8405B.
- They installed the
network drops and wall plates for Rooms 6333
and 6335.
- The plumbing contractor
installed the gas and vacuum connections for the
peninsulas in Rooms 8405A and 8405B.
- The contractor installed
the remaining base cabinets for the peninsulas
in Suite 8405A.
- The network wiring crew
installed the network wiring in Rooms 8405C,
8405D, 8405E, 8405F, and 8405G and tested the
network drops for Rooms 6333 and 6335.
- The plumbing contractor
installed sink connections (hot water, cold
water, and drain) for the sinks in Rooms 8405C,
8405D, and 8405E.
- The cabinet installers
installed the remaining counter tops for the
peninsulas in Suite 8405A and
8405B.
- The network wiring crew
installed the network wiring in Rooms 8405H,
8405I, and 8405J.
- The plumbing contractor
installed sink connections (hot water, cold
water, and drain) for the sinks in Rooms 8405F
and 8405G.
LIONS/LSU CLINIC PERMANENT REPAIRS AND MITIGATION:
- The installation of the
glass on the exterior stairwell has been
completed. Crews have begun caulking the glass
panels.
- Crews began installing
granite on the exterior of the new
stairwell.
- They installed metal
studs for the wall around the fire door on
the 6th Floor, Gravier Street
side.
- The contractor started
installing wall partitions on the 6th Floor, Gravier St./S. Prieur St. side.
- The door frame for the
new stairwell was installed on the 6th
Floor.
- A crew installed
baseboard backer on the 6th Floor, Gravier/S. Prieur Street side.
- Ceiling tile is being
installed in the 6th Floor in the simulation
rooms.
- The contractor
installed ceiling tile on the
Gravier St. side
of the 6th Floor.
- Additional CMU walls
are being constructed on the 1st Floor, Bolivar St. side.
- The contractor
installed carpet on the CSRB side of the 6th
Floor.
- Crews installed
ceiling wires and grid on the 6th Floor in
the computer lounge area.
- The contractor removed
the shaft walls from around the freight
elevator to begin waterproofing the shaft.
- Workers are stripping
the granite floors on the 1st Floor, Bolivar Street side.
- Ceiling tile was
installed in the 6th Floor elevator lobby.
- A crew began
installing cabinets for the reception desk
on the 6th Floor.
- Others began
installing ceramic border tile in the 6th
Floor computer lounge.
- The sheet vinyl for
the floors in the simulation labs is being
laid.
- A crew began
installing VCT in the hallway.
- The contractor began
applying the color enhancer to the granite
walls on the 1st Floor, Gravier Street
side.
- The mechanical contractor
installed fuel pipes on the 1st Floor, CSRB side
and installed control wire to the AHU on the 1st
Floor, Bolivar Street side.
- Crews installed supply
grilles and scrub sinks in the 6th Floor
simulation rooms.
- They continue to
install the supply and return grilles on the Gravier St. side of the 6th Floor.
- Plumbers roughed in
the waste and water lines for the restroom
on the Bolivar St. side of the 1st Floor,
- All of the diesel fuel
lines that run from the roof to the 1st
Floor have been tested.
- A water fountain was
installed on the
Bolivar St.
side of the 6th Floor.
- Ceiling outlets for
the medical gas/air/vac were installed in
the 6th Floor simulation room.
- The fuel pipes going
into the generator on the roof were caulked.
- Actuators were mounted
on the 1st and 6th Floors in the mechanical
rooms on the S. Prieur Street
side.
- Workers capped the
fuel lines on the roof and on the 1st
Floor.
- Plumbers removed the
acid waste line above the new switchgear.
- The mechanical
contractor piped in the medical
air/gas/vacuum ceiling boxes in the 6th
Floor simulation rooms.
- The electrical contractor
installed conduit from the switches to the
disconnects for the generator on the roof.
- They installed light
fixtures on the 6th Floor,
Gravier Street
side and installed additional wire for the
Stryker equipment that will be installed for
the simulation labs.
- Wires were run from
the emergency generator to the switches on
the roof.
- They installed strobes
and speakers on the 6th Floor,
Bolivar Street
side.
- They ran conduit to
the battery charger and the heater for the
generator on the roof.
- Electricians installed
exit signs, strobes and speakers on the CSRB
side of the 6th Floor.
- They installed the VFD
on the 6th Floor in the
Bolivar St. side
mechanical room and tied in the fire phones
on the 6th Floor.
- Electricians pulled
generator feeder wire from the 9th Floor
generator on the roof.
- They pulled wire from
the switchgear to the fire pump controller.
- Power has been
provided to the reception desk on the 6th
Floor.
- Electricians are
installing lights on the
Gravier St./S. Prieur St.
side of the 6th Floor.
- Workers pulled control
wire from the roof mounted emergency
generator to the 2nd Floor.
- They installed the
annunciator panels on the 1st and 2nd Floors
and pulled feeder wires from the fire pump
motor and jockey pump to the fire pump
controller on the 2nd Floor.
- Crews continue to pull
control wire from the roof top generator to
the ATS.
- The sprinkler contractor
installed sprinkler heads on the
Bolivar St. and Gravier St. sides of the 6th Floor.
- They installed
sprinkler heads in the 6th Floor computer
lounge.
- AT&T began pulling the
main telephone feeder cable.
LIBRARY COMMONS PROJECT:
- LSUHSC electricians pulled
wire for receptacles and are now installing
light switches.
- The contractor continued
installing the display case in the elevator
lobby.
- Glass was installed in
the display case.
- Air conditioning diffusers
were installed in the multimedia rooms, the
elevator lobby and the café area.
- The composite wall panels
in the multimedia rooms have been sealed.
- They painted the
composite wall panels in the small
multimedia room.
- The contractor completed
the column wraps in the cafe area.
- Ceiling tile was
installed in the cafe area.
- The contractor installed
window shades.
- The wooden ceiling trim
was installed in the study area.
- Facility Services
installed a transfer switch for emergency
lighting and installed drains for the coffee
kiosk.
- The contractor installed
supports for the acoustical ceiling baffles.
- Workers installed base
molding in the study area and in the elevator
lobby.
MEB 2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor painted the
metal doors for the lecture halls and the
stairwells, painted all the door frames and
continued installing break metal around the
elevator doors.
- The contractor moved a
drain line so that it is in line with the new
ceiling on the Bolivar Street
side.
- They installed plumbing
pipe for the water coolers on the Bolivar Street side and installed one
water cooler.
- The contractor began
installing granite on the columns.
- They installed the door
frames on the north side of the lobby and hung
sheet rock around the door frames.
- The contractor installed
can lights around the perimeter of the lobby.
- They installed the
circular hanging fixtures on the Roman Street side of the lobby.
- LSUHSC Facility Services
re-routed pneumatic lines so they will not be in
the open ceiling area.
- LSUHSC employees began
labeling wire that needs to be re-routed in the
open ceiling.
MEB MDL 6 RENOVATIONS:
- The casework contractor

- The contractor began
running fire alarm wires.

framing the fur down in back lobby area in Tower

- The contractor installed
pendant light fixtures in the back lobby area in
Tower C.
DENTAL
SCHOOL
BOILER INSTALLATION:
- The contractor installed
the electrical disconnect for new boiler and
fabricated additional gas and steam piping for
connecting the boiler to the building systems.
- Crews installed the gas
piping and valves for the boiler.
- They assembled and prepped
the boiler connections for the scheduled system
tie-in.
- The contractor completed
the connection of the new boiler and insulated
the steam line.
- Relief valves for the new
boiler were installed.
ALLIED HEALTH/NURSING ROOF REPLACEMENT:
- Work has begun on the
project.
The contractor is removing the old ballast
(gravel) from the roof.
- Materials for the new roof
have been delivered and staged in the lay down
area located across Roman St. from
the building.
EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:
- Facility Services graded
planting bed in the rear of the
Resource Center.
- Facility Services planted
shrubs and spread mulch in the rear of the Resource Center.
