We continue to seek ways to
enhance the security of the campus through the
expanded use of access control. New proximity card readers have been
installed in stairwell #7 of the
Medical Education Building
at the landings on floors 3-7. This is the stairwell used to enter the MEB
from the Bolivar Street elevated walkway. A proximity card reader has also been
installed at the entrance to the elevated walkway
from the Gravier Garage/Stanislaus Hall corridor. New proximity card readers have also been
installed at the Gravier Parking Garage at the
following locations; the two stairwells that exit to
Gravier Street, at the
ground floor elevator call button near the
automobile entrance and exit, and at the Claiborne
lobby entrance.
The permanent repair and
mitigation work at the Lions/LSU Clinic Building is
largely complete. The contractor continues to complete work on
a variety of punch list items. The network wiring crew is busy pulling cable
and making connections on the 6th Floor. LSUHSC is anticipating that the final
inspection by the State Fire Marshall (required to
formally occupy the space) will be scheduled in the
near future.
The final preparations
necessary to re-occupy the 1st and 2nd Floors of the
Clinical Education Building
continue. Furniture has been delivered and set up in a
number of the 2nd Floor offices and the electrical
connections are being made to the modular furniture. The cleaning crew has been at work on the 2nd
Floor in areas where work has been completed. Additional light fixtures have been installed
on both floors. The trim has been painted and the carpeting
and base molding has been installed in the 1st Floor
auditorium.
The installation of the new roof on the Allied
Health/Nursing Building is nearly complete. The contractor installed the sheet metal
flashing along all sides of the roof. The first and second coats of paint were
applied to the elevator penthouse and the Stairwell
C penthouse. Crews installed the parapet wall cap along
the
Bolivar St.,
Perdido St. and MEB sides
of the roof. The
roof drain above Stairwell C was replaced and the
counter flashing around the exhaust fans near Bolivar Street has been installed.
Work on the project to re-roof
the Resource Center
is schedule to begin immediately after the July 4th
holidays. The pre-bid conference has been scheduled for
July 7th. An external elevator that will be used to
transport workers and materials to the roof will be
the initial step in this process. Punch list items are being completed in the
Library Commons. Work on the interior stair case has been the
primary focus for the contractor.
The contractor responsible for
the renovations to the MEB 2nd Floor lobby has
completed the installation of the remaining wood
panels.
The new tile base has been installed at the bottom
of the walls. The new fire alarm devices have been
installed and tested. The large television monitor and the channel
player are in place and connected. The free standing furniture has been
delivered and remains crated while waiting for the
balance of the work to be completed. The final inspection by the State Fire
Marshall is anticipated to occur within the next few
weeks.
Crews installed the center
island pedestal, the pedestal countertop and the
vertical chases in MDL #3. The sink base cabinets, the associated
countertops and plumbing fixtures are now in place. Drain lines have been connected to the
sinks.
The natural gas piping and electrical has been
roughed in to the new casework and the final
connections are being made. The contractor installed light fixtures in
Room 4108, 4018A, 4110, 4201A and 4209. Flex duct and HVAC grills have been installed
and ceiling tiles have been installed. The sprinkler heads were installed in the
main MDL. The A/V contractor installed all four
television mounts, installed the speakers and the 42
inch LCD TV.
Auditoriums A & B at the Dental School
have passed the final inspection by the State Fire
Marshall. The contractor
installed custom baseboard along the wing walls and
stairwell entrance in Auditorium A and at the
stairwell entrance and along all four walls in
Auditorium B. The double doors were installed at the main
entrance to Auditorium B and the door hardware was
mounted. The A/V contractor
installed the podium in Auditorium A; connecting the
associated wiring and equipment. They installed additional A/V
components for the A/V rack in Room 4202B and pulled
fiber for the projectors in Auditorium B. The 42 inch monitor was installed in the A/V
rack Room 4202B. The cameras for the speaker and audience are
in place in Auditorium A.
Work continues in the lobby of
the Student Residence Hall. The contractor installed gypsum board to fur
out walls in the recreation room. The walls have been taped and floated. The ceiling grid was installed and the
sprinkler heads relocated as needed. The recessed down lighting has been roughed
in. The
ceiling grid for the decorative ceiling in the
expanded lobby space is being installed. The gypsum board ceiling in the lobby has
been primed and painted. Fire alarm devices have been installed in
both mezzanines and in the A & B lobby areas. The access control contractor ran wires for
the card reader on both sliding doors.
The project to replace the air
handling units in the Medical Education Building remains on
schedule. The contractor completed connecting controls
for roof top units 1 and 2 and air handling units 6D
and 7D and the units were balanced and placed into
service.
Crews demolished and removed the old AHUs 6C and 7C
and installed the new units. They completed piping and insulating air
handling unit (AHU) 7C. Work continues on the piping, insulation,
electrical and controls for AHU 6C. AHUs 6A and 7A were delivered and stored in
the T-lot.
Here are highlights of work
that has been accomplished during the past two
weeks.
Repair Work at 1542 Tulane Ave.:
- The networking contractor
continued to install network drops in Suite 235.
- The flooring contractor
installed additional carpet and cove base in the
auditorium.
- Light fixtures were
installed on the 1st and 2nd Floor.
- The lighting
contractor installed exit lights in the
auditorium.
- Office furniture,
conference room furniture and modular furniture
was set up in the 2nd Floor spaces along the
center corridor and Tulane Ave.
- Facility Services
installed electrical whips for the cubicles
on the 2nd Floor.
- The cleaning services
contractor cleaned light fixtures and window
sills on the 2nd Floor.
- They cleaned offices
in Suite 235.
- Workers cleaned
Stairwells 3 and 5 and the 2nd Floor
bathrooms.
- Facility Services painted
the stage trim in the Auditorium.
- The plumbers repaired
the drain line for the AHU in Room 235L.
LIONS/LSU CLINIC PERMANENT REPAIRS AND MITIGATION:
- The contractor repaired
the exhaust fan caps on the roof.
- New doors were installed
on the 1st Floor across from the security desk
and worked on the punch list for the laminate
and cabinets on the 6th Floor.
- Workers are pulling
network wires for the conference room along Bolivar Street and in the large
lecture hall.
LIBRARY COMMONS PROJECT:
- The contractor installed
the wall covering in the stairwell wall nearest
the elevators.
- They painted the restroom
closets and relocated two fire alarm devices.
- Crews began installing the
break metal at the stairwell.
MEB PHARMACOLOGY RENOVATION:
- LSUHSC Facilities Services
installed locks on all doors in both the lab and
administrative areas.
MEB 2nd FLOOR LOBBY
RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor installed
wood panels on the television monitor wall and
the soffit above the television monitor wall.
- They completed the
installation of the remaining wood panels.
- The meeting minders
and the channel player for the television
monitor were installed.
- The contractor
installed the 65 inch television monitor.
- The contractor connected
new fire alarm devices into the existing system
and removed the old devices.
- They tested the new
devices.
- The contractor painted
fire alarm conduit white to match the existing
ceiling color.
- The tile wall base was
installed.
- The free standing
furniture has been delivered.
MDL #3 RENOVATIONS:
- The casework contractor
installed frames along the back walls of MDL 3.
- Crews installed the
center island pedestal.
- They installed
countertop for the center island pedestal
and vertical chase in all four quadrants.
- The casework
contractor installed the sink base cabinets
and the countertops with plumbing fixtures.
- They installed
cantilever frames and panels.
- The contractor installed
light fixtures in Room 4108, 4110, and 4209.
- Light fixtures were
installed in Rooms 4108A and 4201A.
- The contractor roughed
in the natural gas piping and electrical for
casework receptacles.
- Crews installed flex
ducts and HVAC grilles.
- Workers installed
ceiling tiles.
- The contractor
connected drain lines for the cabinet sinks.
- Crews continued
connecting air, gas, and vacuum to the
fixtures and trimming out the receptacles
for the casework.
- The sprinkler heads were
installed in the main MDL.
- The A/V contractor
installed all four television mounts.
- Crews installed
speakers and LCD wall mounts.
- They installed 42” LCD
TV and ran wires for the control panel.
DENTAL AUDITORIUMS A & B RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor installed
custom baseboard along the wing walls and
stairwell entrance in Auditorium A.
- They installed custom
baseboard at the stairwell entrance and
along the north, west and east walls in
Auditorium B.
- The double doors were
installed at the main entrance to Auditorium
B and the door hardware was mounted.
- The A/V contractor
installed the podium in Auditorium A; connecting
the associated wiring and equipment.
- They installed
additional A/V components for the A/V rack
in Room 4202B.
- Workers pulled fiber
for the projectors in Auditorium B.
- The 42 inch monitor
was installed in the A/V rack Room 4202B.
- The A/V contractor
installed cameras for the speaker and
audience in Auditorium A.
- The electrical contractor
installed power for the A/V and access grid
racks in Room 4202B.
- Crews pulled network
cables for the tables in Auditorium A.
- They continue pulling
network wires and terminating them in
Auditorium B.
- The contractor moved the
roof drain cleanout located near the projector.
- The auditoriums
successfully passed Fire Marshal inspection.
RESIDENCE HALL LOBBY EXPANSION:
- The contractor installed
gypsum board to fur out walls in the recreation
room.
- They taped and floated
walls in the recreation room.
- The ceiling grid was
installed in the recreation room.
- The sprinkler heads
were relocated.
- The contractor is
installing the wavy ceiling grid in the
expanded lobby area.
- The access control
contractor ran wires for the card reader on both
sliding doors.
- The paint contractor
primed and painted the gypsum board ceiling in
the expanded lobby area.
- Workers painted the
ceiling underneath the mezzanine between the A & B Towers
and the soffit in the corner lobby of the A
Tower.
- The flooring contractor
poured self leveling concrete on both ends of
the corner lobby area.
- Workers placed the
floor underlayment in the A and C quadrant
areas to be carpeted.
- Sprinkler heads were
installed in the mezzanine of the B quadrant.
- Fire alarm devices were
installed in both mezzanines and in the A & B
lobby areas.
- Crews roughed in the
recessed down-light fixtures in the recreation
room.
ALLIED HEALTH/NURSING ROOF REPLACEMENT:
- The contractor
installed walk pads near Roman Street.
- They installed the sheet
metal flashing along all sides of the roof.
- The first and second coats
of paint were applied to the elevator penthouse
and the Stairwell C penthouse.
- The roof drain above
Stairwell C was replaced.
- The contractor installed
the parapet wall cap along the Bolivar St., Perdido St. and MEB sides of the
roof.
- They installed counter
flashing around the exhaust fans near Bolivar Street.
MEB AIR HANDLING UNIT
REPLACEMENT:
- The contractor completed
connecting controls for roof top units 1 and 2
and air handling units 6D and 7D.
- AHUs 6D and 7D were
balanced.
- They demolished and
removed the old AHUs 6C and 7C and installed the
new units.
- The contractor completed
piping and insulating air handling unit (AHU) 7C
and continues installing piping, insulation,
electrical and controls for AHU 6C.
- AHUs 6A and 7A were
delivered and stored in the T-lot.
DENTAL SCHOOL
PARKING LOT AND
ROAD REPAIRS:
- Facility Services finished
painting parking stall markings along Campus Road.
EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:
- Facility Services
installed irrigation piping around the Roman
Street Garage on the Tulane Avenue, Bolivar Street
and
Gravier Street
sides.
- Crews completed
connection of the piping, control wiring and
tested the irrigation around the Roman St.
Garage.
- Facility Services
installed sprinkler station #1 on the Tulane Ave. side of the Roman St.
Garage.
- Seven new trees were
planted on the
South Roman Street
side of the MEB.
CAMPUS SECURITY:
- New proximity card readers
have been installed in stairwell #7 of the Medical Education Building at the
landings on floors 3-7. This is the stairwell used to enter the
MEB from the Bolivar Street elevated walkway.
- A proximity card reader
has also been installed at the entrance to the
elevated walkway from the Gravier
Garage/Stanislaus Hall corridor.
- Beginning Friday, June
26th, at 6:00 PM, these doors remain
unlocked from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday
through Friday, excluding holidays.
After-hours, holidays, and weekend access
requires an LSUHSC ID.
- New proximity card readers
have also been installed at the Gravier Parking
Garage at the following locations; the two
stairwells that exit to Gravier Street, at the ground floor
elevator call button near the automobile
entrance and exit, and at the Claiborne lobby
entrance.
- Beginning Friday, June
26th, at 6:00 PM, access to these doors
requires an LSUHSC ID at all times.
