The threat of Tropical
Storm Ida introduced some delays into the project to
replace the roof of the Resource Center. Work
re-started as soon as possible. The remaining roof
drains and drains on the mechanical room and atrium
penthouse were replaced. All of the glass panels
that make up the atrium roof were installed and
water tested. The framing for the parapet walls was
completed and flashing installed along the base of
the atrium along Gravier St. Workers have begun
laying the final layer (cap sheet) of the roofing
system.
The contractor prepared
the sub-floor, the concrete landing and the concrete
ramp for new flooring at the 1st level parking
garage entrance at the Clinical Education Building.
Workers mounted a fan coil unit in Room 202A and
installed piping for the fan coil unit. The
contractor finished the terrazzo floors and marble
walls outside Room 203. Ductwork and grilles for the
2nd Floor garage entrance have been installed.
The contractor completed
balancing and testing AHU 4-A and 5-A in the Medical
Education Building. The temporary A/C units were
relocated to Quadrant D of the 2nd and 3rd Floors.
The old AHU 3-D and 2-D were demolished and removed.
The new air handling units were installed and the
ductwork for both units was connected. The
contractor completed the chilled water and hot water
piping for AHU 2-D and AHU 3-D and insulated the new
pipes. They continue installing electrical and
controls for AHU 2-D and 3-D.
Work continues in MDL #4.
The contractor rerouted condenser water piping and
installed the structural supports for the moveable
partitions. They framed up the wall and installed
sheetrock along the moveable partitions supports.
The steel support for the partition track in Room
4112A was installed. They installed the partition
track in the main MDL room and in Room 4112A. The
contractor roughed-in the plumbing for Rooms 4215
and 4112 and replaced light switches and existing
electrical receptacles. The electrical wiring for
the digital signage in the elevator lobby was
roughed in and new the digital signage was
installed. The new ceiling grid was hung in the main
MDL room. This is the last of the large MDL’s to be
completely renovated.
Renovations to areas on
the 7th and 8th Floors of the Lions/LSU Clinic
Building are proceeding. On the 8th Floor, the
contractor continued framing the fur down in the
large conference room and in the main lobby area.
The HVAC ductwork was installed in the large
conference room and the Director’s office. Workers
continued the electrical rough-in for the lights and
receptacles in the Director’s office and the small
conference room. On the 7th Floor, the contractor
removed old flooring and sheetrock and demolished
and removed interior walls. Crews began removing the
old electrical receptacles and light fixtures.
The fencing replacement
project is nearing completion. The contractor set
the third and fourth sections of fence posts in the
area from the staff parking lot to Castine Street,
adjacent to the de Saix subdivision. Crews set the
final section of fence posts from Florida Ave to the
corner of Castine Street at the rear of the campus.
The contractor installed the top and bottom rail and
the fence fabric for the remaining sections of the
chain link fence along Campus Road and along the
border of the DeSaix Subdivision and Castine St.
Crews removed two trees near the Castine Street
corner.
The contractor finished
installing electrical conduit on the 1st Floor for
the upgrade to the MEB Autopy exhaust system. Crews
installed spiral ductwork in front of the procedure
room and pulled electrical wires for the autopsy
tables. The new autopsy tables were delivered to the
2nd Floor. The contractor removed the old ceiling
grid, tiles, and lights from the autopsy room.
Workers installed new ductwork above the cooler
area, installed one new VAV box above the 1st Floor
and another VAV box above the 2nd Floor ceiling.
Crews continued installing ductwork inside the
autopsy room.
Here are highlights of
work that has been accomplished during the past two
weeks.
RESOURCE CENTER ROOF
REPLACEMENT:
- Crews secured all equipment and ceased work
in anticipation of high winds from Tropical
Storm Ida.
- The contractor replaced the roof drains in
both stairwell penthouses and the 23 roof drains
on the roof.
- Workers replaced the mechanical room roof
drain and four roof drains on the atrium
penthouse.
- The fourteen rows of glass panels that form
the atrium roof have been replaced.
- The contractor installed the framing for the
parapet wall along the corner of Bolivar and
Gravier St., along S. Prieur St. and Bolivar St.
- The flashing at the base of the atrium along
the Gravier Street side of the roof was
installed.
- The contractor installed the cap sheet on
the parapet wall along Bolivar Street.
- The cap sheet was laid on the Tulane Ave.
side of the roof.
1542 TULANE GARAGE
ENTRANCES:
- The contractor prepared the sub-floor, the
concrete landing and the concrete ramp for new
flooring at the 1st level parking garage
entrance.
- Workers mounted a fan coil unit in Room 202A
and installed piping for the fan coil unit.
- The contractor finished fine cleaning of the
terrazzo floors and marble walls outside Room
203.
- They installed ductwork and grilles for the
2nd Floor garage corridor.
- The sprinkler head in Room 202A were
replaced.
MEB AIR HANDLING UNIT
REPLACEMENT:
- The contractor completed balancing and
testing AHU 4-A and 5-A.
- Facility Services installed the temporary
A/C units in Quadrant D of the 2nd and 3rd
Floors.
- The contractor demolished the old AHU 3-D
and 2-D.
- They installed the new AHU 3-D and 2-D and
installed the ductwork for both units.
- The contractor completed the chilled water
piping for AHU 2-D and AHU 3-D.
- The piping insulation was installed on the
chilled water lines for the new units.
- The contractor completed installing the hot
water piping for AHU 2-D and 3-D.
- They continue installing electrical and
controls for AHU 2-D and 3-D.

FLOOR RENOVATIONS:

service for the walkway lift.
EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:
- Facility Services laid sod at various
locations around the Downtown Campus.
- The contractor installed new bollard lights
around the T-lot.
- Facility Services installed underground
electrical conduit for the new bollard lighting
adjacent to the South Roman Garage on Bolivar
Street.
- The contractor built concrete forms for the
new curbs on Bolivar St. between Poydras St. and
Perdido St.
- They poured concrete for the new concrete
curb on Bolivar St. between Poydras St. and
Perdido St.
