The permanent repair and
mitigation work continues at the Allied
Health/Nursing Building. Additional electrical
conduit was installed in the main corridor on the
1st Floor and to the XLB2 electrical panel. Domestic
hot and cold water lines were relocated around the
center column on the 1st Floor. The 5 inch roof
drain pipe from the walkway was tied in and the old
pipes were removed. The contractor saw cut the
concrete floor so that the bathroom drain lines can
be re-run. Crews have started to refurbish the air
handling units that were damaged by flood waters on
the 1st Floor.
Similar work is underway
at the Resource Center. The contractor marked and
drilled 16 floor penetrations through all floors for
the emergency fuel line and the emergency risers.
Cores were also drilled for the lines running to the
new ATS and pump rooms. Workers removed the concrete
masonry unit walls in preparation for installing
electrical conduit in Room 115 and laid out the
walls on the 1st Floor. Some granite panels were
removed from the front of the 1st Floor elevators.
The contractor working at
the Student Residence Hall ran the conduit and
pulled electrical wire for the exterior parking lot
lights. The excavations for the 12 pile caps have
been completed and the concrete forms and steel
rebar has been installed for 6 of the pile caps.
Work on the 7th Floor lab
renovations in the Lions/LSU Clinic Building is
proceeding. Three storefronts were installed
adjacent to the center hallway and the studs were
installed above and below the storefronts. Heating
hot water lines have been run to the VAV boxes that
serve the renovated space. A transformed was
installed in the electrical room. Electrical conduit
was run through the new wall and the wall was
insulated. Drywall was hung and prepped for paint.
The walls and door frames have been primed and
painted.
The 8th Floor Lions/LSU
Clinic Building renovations are nearing completion.
The A/V contractor ran speaker wire in the large
conference room. Conduit was run from the network
closet to the podiums in the large and small
conference rooms. The glass was installed in the
curved storefront and workers adjusted the sprinkler
heads in the main lobby area. New can lights and 2x2
lights were installed in the lobby area and the
small conference room. Facility Services installed 8
control valves for the new VAV boxes.
A new project to construct
a covered walkway from the District Energy Garage to
the side entrance to the Clinical Education Building
is getting underway. The contractor started
demolition of the old sidewalk that runs parallel to
the District Entergy Garage and they are removing
the awning connected to the Clinical Education
Building.
The contractor continued
testing and troubleshooting the new fire alarm panel
that was installed as part of the fire alarm system
upgrade at the Residence Hall. They completed
testing the flow and tamper switches and the access
control functions during a fire alarm. The output
volume of all new speaker devices was increased.
They corrected the issues with the AHU shutdown and
re-tested that part of the system. Crews began
working on the ground fault/short in the mezzanine
strobe circuit.
Facility Services
crews completed planting
shrubs and mulching the island inside
the horseshoe drive at the School of
Dentistry. They
mulched the planting bed on the Clinic Building side
of the horseshoe and installed irrigation piping
along Florida Avenue adjacent to the Clinic
Building. New sod
has been laid on the center
section of the horseshoe drive and
crews cleaned out the planters in the
courtyard. The irrigation
system in the horseshoe at
the School of Dentistry was
activated and tested. The
landscape in the patio
courtyard between the Administration and Clinic
Buildings was cleared and the
existing vegetation was removed.
Trenches for the irrigation piping in the courtyard
were completed and the piping was installed.
Facility Services
completed installing new sprinkler heads and buried
all new irrigation lines.
