Work continues at the
Allied Health/Nursing Building. The contractor ran
new electrical conduit to panel XLB2. They lowered
the drain for the water closets on the 1st Floor and
began roughing in the 1st Floor electrical panels
and restroom plumbing. New sewer and water lines
were installed for the 1st Floor restrooms on the
Gravier Street side of the building. The contractor
continued installing sewer and water lines for the
1st Floor restrooms near the loading dock.
Additional electrical conduit was run in the Tiger
Room and conduit was run to the new fire command
station room.
The contractor removed the
temporary ceiling tiles from the main lobby on the
1st Floor of the Resource Center. Workers sanded the
existing door frames on the 1st Floor to remove dirt
and corrosion. Electrical conduit has been run on
the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floors for the emergency
generator. The contractor created five (5) floor
penetrations in the Automatic Transfer Switch room
and ran conduit through the penetrations. They
created a three floor penetrations in the 2nd Floor
pump room and enlarged floor penetrations in the
electrical closets on Floors 2 through 8. Conduit
for the future emergency circuits was run on the 1st
Floor and into Room 203.
Construction of the
elevated structure to house critical mechanical,
electrical and plumbing equipment at the Residence
Hall is proceeding. The contractor completed
building and setting the steel rebar cages for all
12 pile caps. The forms were set, concrete was
poured and the forms were removed from the pile
caps. Crews installed the 6 inch main water supply
line for fire protection from the pump room and two
4 inch domestic cold water lines along the Perdido
St. side of the C-tower.
The lab renovations
underway on the 7th Floor of the Lions/LSU Clinic
Building are moving into the final stages. The
contractor finished painting the interior walls and
door frames and installed floor tile. The sheetrock
was hung on the exterior wall and workers taped and
floated the seams. The contractor began priming and
painting the exterior corridor wall. The new lab
furniture is being installed and crews are running
the new water lines inside the cabinets to the lab
stations. Glass was installed in both of the new
storefronts.
The project to provide a
covered walkway from the District Energy Garage to
the Clinical Education Building has encountered a
problem. Some underground obstructions have been
discovered that require the placement of some piles
to be changed. The design is being adjusted at this
time. However the contractor continued removing the
old sidewalks near 1542 Tulane Ave.
The Facility Services
landscaping crews graded the planting beds in the
patio courtyard between the Dental School Clinic and
Administration Buildings. They planted trees, shrubs
and plants in the courtyard and in the five
planters. The water supply was connected to the
irrigation piping system, the lines were flushed,
the irrigation controller was installed in the
basement and the irrigation system for the patio
courtyard was energized. Mulch was spread in the
planting beds and the job site was cleaned. Crews
also repaired the concrete curb on the horseshoe
drive side of the Administration Building
