The contractor responsible
for the permanent repairs and hazard mitigation at
the Allied Health/Nursing Building completed laying
CMU block in the Tiger Room, in the corridor and in
the restroom along the MEB loading dock. The rough
in electrical work was finished in the CMU block
walls along Gravier Street. Workers roughed in light
fixtures along the Bolivar Street side of the 1st
Floor and in the restroom near the MEB loading dock.
Restrooms lights were wired and the window wall near
the MEB loading dock was insulated. Structural steel
has been delivered to the site and the contractor
started laying out the structural steel supports.
The steel beams will provide structural support for
the large classroom being constructed on the 2nd
Floor and for the modifications planned for the 2nd
Floor entrance from the elevated walkway.
The domestic water lines
at the Resource Center have been re-routed as part
of the hazard mitigation project. Crews continue
installing electrical conduits for emergency power.
The contractor completed removing the front elevator
shaft wall for Elevators 3 & 4 and work on the new
waterproof elevator shaft wall is underway. They
erected rebar cages and set forms for the waterproof
concrete shaft walls. The window in the 2nd Floor
pump room was removed and workers began running
conduit and wire for the floor outlet in the main
lobby on the 1st Floor.
At the Student Residence Hall, the contractor continued installing underground
plumbing pipes in the utility chase and ran additional underground conduit in
the electrical utility chase. The new underground electrical conduits were
covered with concrete near the electrical utility chase. Workers welded the
piping for the fire protection water supply. They constructed and erected rebar
cages for the 12 columns that will support the new mechanical/electrical
enclosure. The concrete forms were put in place around the rebar cages
the concrete was poured.
The 7th Floor lab
renovations at the Lions/LSU Clinic Building are
substantially complete. The contractor hung the door
and installed ceiling tiles in the lab. Ceiling
tiles were installed in the corridors and
surrounding rooms. The fire alarm strobes and the
final three light fixtures were installed and the
fire alarm system was successfully tested. Sprinkler
head heights were adjusted and the renovated space
passed the State Fire Marshal’s inspection. Work on
punch list items is underway.
Work on a number of small
projects is being completed. The contractor began
running conduit for the A/V equipment in the large
conference room on the 8th Floor of the Lions/LSU
Clinic Building. The contractor responsible for the
fence replacement project at the Dental School
poured the concrete for the Moss Street driveway and
Entergy supplied power for the entrance controls.
The project to grade and re-contour the field
between Florida Ave. and the adjacent railroad
tracks has been completed.
Our landscaping crew
continues working at the Dental School campus. They
removed roots and rough graded the planting beds on
the Florida Avenue side and parking lot side of the
School of Dentistry Clinic Building. Crews installed
edging and topsoil on the Florida Avenue side of the
School of Dentistry Clinic Building and graded the
new soil. They completed placing and grading topsoil
on the parking lot side of the School of Dentistry
Clinic Building.
Here are highlights of
work that has been accomplished during the past two
weeks.
ALLIED HEALTH/NURSING BLDG

- The contractor completed laying CMU block in

- Workers roughed in the electrical in the CMU

dock.

heads on the 1st Floor.
RESOURCE CENTER PERMANENT
REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor completed the re-routing of
domestic water lines.
- Crews continue installing electrical
conduits for emergency power.
- The contractor completed removing the front
elevator shaft wall for Elevators 3 & 4.
- Work on the new waterproof elevator shaft
wall for Elevators 3 & 4 is underway.
- Crews erected rebar cages and set forms
for the new concrete walls in Elevators 3 &
4.
- The contractor removed the window in the 2nd
Floor pump room in preparation for the new
construction.
- Workers began running conduit and wire for
the floor outlet in the main lobby on the 1st
Floor.
RESIDENCE HALL PERMANENT
REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor continued installing
underground plumbing pipes in the utility chase.
- Crews ran additional underground conduit in
the electrical utility chase.
- They covered the new underground electrical
conduits with concrete near the electrical
utility chase.
- The contractor welded the piping for the
fire protection water supply.
- Crews constructed and erected rebar cages
for the 12 columns that will support the new
mechanical/electrical enclosure.
- The contractor erected the concrete forms
around the rebar cages for the 12 support
columns and poured the concrete.
LIONS/LSU CLINIC BLDG. 7th FLOOR
LAB RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor hung the door and
installed ceiling tiles in the lab.
- They installed ceiling tiles in the
corridors and surrounding rooms.
- The fire alarm strobes and the final three
light fixtures were installed.
- The contractor successfully tested the fire
alarm system.
- They adjusted sprinkler head heights and
continued finishing the additional adjacent
rooms.
- The renovated space passed the State Fire
Marshal inspection.
- The contractor installed cove base in the
laboratory and performed the final clean up.
- The project is substantially complete.
LIONS/LSU CLINIC BLDG 8th
FLOOR RENOVATIONS:
- The contractor began running conduit for the
A/V equipment in the large conference room.
FENCE REPLACEMENT PROJECT:
- The contractor poured the concrete for the
Moss Street driveway.
- Entergy supplied power for the Moss Street
Entrance.
DENTAL SCHOOL FIELD
GRADING:
- The contractor completed the rough grading.
- They completed cutting to the final grade
contours.
EXTERIOR/LANDSCAPING:
- Facility Services removed roots and graded
on the Florida Avenue side and parking lot side
of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building.
- The final grading of the Florida Avenue side
of the School of Dentistry Clinic Building is
complete.
- Crews installed edging and topsoil on the
Florida Avenue side of the School of Dentistry
Clinic Building and graded the new soil.
- Facility Services completed placing and
grading topsoil on the parking lot side of the
School of Dentistry Clinic Building.
