Minor revisions to the bid documents for the project to waterproof the exteriors of the Dental Clinic Building, Administration Building and the Power Plant have been completed.  The project has been advertised and bids will be opened on Thursday, January 13, 2011.  Based on this schedule, we expect that work will begin in the spring of 2011.

The electrical contractor continued running conduit for receptacles and light fixtures in the new 2nd Floor auditorium being constructed in the Allied Health/Nursing Building.  Power was provided for the 2nd Floor AHU behind the auditorium and crews finished the wiring for the 1st Floor AHUs.  The mechanical contractor continued installing and insulating the ductwork in the 2nd Floor auditorium and along Gravier Street on the 1st Floor.  Crews ran copper piping for the compressed air line re-location and condensate drains and heating hot water lines for the air handling units on the 1st Floor.  The contractor also started running copper piping for the new domestic water feed for the building.   The mechanical contractor fabricated fittings for the new domestic water pumps, ran the heating hot water to the VAVs and insulated ductwork above the birthing labs on the 2nd Floor.  The contractor installed the structural steel for the generator platform in the switchgear room and began fabrication of the switchgear platform in the existing generator room.  The existing metal louvers were removed from the switchgear and generator rooms.  Workers cut the exterior building stone near the switchgear and generator rooms to allow the structural steel to attach to the exterior of the building.

The contractor finished laying the asphalt in the main driveway of the Student Residence Hall.  Light fixtures are being installed in the elevated mechanical/electrical structure and two door frames for the utilities chase on the ground floor were installed.  Repairs to the main roof of the Residence Hall have begun.  Crews completed repairs to the roof on the C tower and began working on the A tower roof.  The contractor demolished the security office on the 1st Floor and laid the CMU block wall for the storage room in the C tower.

The Resource Center contractor installed and grouted the legs to the roof-mounted emergency generator platform.  They installed insulation on the roof in preparation for repairing the roof around the emergency generator platform and roofing paper was applied to the base of the platform.  The contractor set up the crane in the Foundation lot; preparing to lift the emergency generator and generator platform.  They set the emergency generator platform on the roof and completed the installation of the generator.  Workers continued to weld the fuel line for the emergency generator and the 1st Floor door to the freight elevator was repaired.

The contractor is installing electrical conduits in the basement of the Clinical Education Building to relocate existing electrical panels to the 1st Floor.  Workers removed the salt tank near the loading dock area.  Outside, the contractor finished building the concrete forms for the steps leading to the back side of building from the new covered walkway.  They completed welding the steel canopy supports for the walkway roof and began grading the site on the end of the walkway closest to the District Energy Garage.

The contractor connected the temporary exhaust duct on the 1st Floor of the CSRB.  The existing exhaust duct on the 1st Floor in the rear corridor was cleaned and removed.  The fire sprinkler lines in the 1st Floor mechanical room were relocated and crews are running new spiral ductwork in the 1st Floor ceiling.

Concrete forms were installed at the entrance to Army Blvd and base course material at the exit for Navy Blvd as the road repair contract at the Dental School campus continues.  Crews installed steel reinforcement and expansion joints in the Army and Navy Boulevard driveways.  The concrete was poured and finished in the Army and Navy Boulevard driveways.  The contractor saw-cut expansion joints and placed silicon in the expansion joints.  They built the curb forms for both driveways, constructed the sidewalk forms and laid the base course for the sidewalk.  Steel mesh was installed in the forms in preparation for pouring concrete.  The concrete for the curbs along both driveways and the sidewalks was poured and finished.  The formwork along both driveways was removed and the perimeter was backfilled.
