The project to
complete the permanent repairs and mitigation at the
Allied Health/Nursing Building continues. The contractor is installing the ceiling grid
and fire sprinklers in the office area on the 1st
floor and they began painting the 1st Floor door
frames. The gypsum board ceiling above the 1st
Floor security desk was removed to make way for
ductwork and the ductwork was installed. Supply air
and return air grilles were installed and crews
started pulling data wires for the 1st Floor
offices. The new ductwork on the 2nd Floor was
insulated and workers started framing out the
entryway fur down on the 2nd Floor. They
removed the plaster ceiling on the 2nd Floor bridge
area to make way for the additional structural steel
needed for the new walkway storefront.
Sheetrock was hung near the birthing lab and the 2nd
Floor network closet and around the debriefing rooms
on the 2nd Floor and the old wall paper is being
removed from the 2nd Floor main corridors.
The Student Residence
Hall contractor pulled a temporary feeder for the
A/C on the 11th Floor. The two feeders for the A/C on the ground
floor were also pulled to the new switchgear. Crews pulled the electrical feeder for the
MDP panel in the C-Tower and power was transferred
to the new switchgear. They are now pulling the feeder for the MDP-2
panel in the B-Tower. The water line for the fire pump has been
run. Two
metal doors were installed on the 2nd level of the
new mechanical/electrical structure; providing entry
doors from the basketball court. Handrails were installed in the pump room,
the switchgear room, and on the roof platform of the
new MEP building. Workers caulked the exterior concrete panels
of the new elevated MEP building. They are now caulking the interior sides of
the precast concrete panels that form the walls of
the elevated structure. The first coat of epoxy paint was applied to
the walls in the storage room and the laundry room
in Tower A and the epoxy floor coating was also
applied.
Power for the AHUs
serving the 7th and 8th Floors of the Resource
Center and for the jockey pump serving the fire pump
was transferred to the new switchgear. The contractor installed the temporary wiring
for the UPS in preparation for the planned power
transfer. The fire pump and heat exchanger were set in
place and the contractor began installing heating
water piping in the pump room. The roof under the emergency generator was
repaired and new data drops were installed in
bookstore. The
contractor primed the stainless steel doorframes for
1st Floor. Ceiling
grid was installed in the back of the house areas on
the 1st Floor and crews are painting the back
corridors.
The contractor
continued installing heating hot water and chilled
water piping in the basement of the Clinical
Education Building. They rerouted the sewer line near the
generator and the 2-inch chill water lines for the
1st Floor AHUs. Workers began installing the 4 inch
electrical conduits in the basement and electrical
conduit was installed for panel EFC on the 4th
Floor.
Crews began excavating the Lakeside lot in
preparation for driving piles and half of the old
Entergy transformer vault roof was demolished. They excavated for the electrical duct bank
near the generator. The manhole for the electrical duct bank near
the generator was installed and the excavation was
backfilled. The underground storm drain line near the
loading dock area was installed. Workers are now installing underground
electrical conduit for the duct bank.
The contractor
responsible for the covered walkway that connects
the CEB to the District Energy Garage finished
installing the corrugated metal roof decking on the
main walkway sections. They also poured concrete for the ADA ramp
and installed the base layer of roofing felt for the
main walkway roof.
The CSRB exhaust
system contractor installed conduits on the 7th
Floor near the mechanical room. The plaster ceiling on the 1st Floor was
primed and two coats of paint were applied. Crews cleaned up the 1st Floor of the CSRB;
preparing to move to the next phase of the project.
The air handling unit replacement project at the
Dental School continues. The contractor installed supply ductwork and
heating hot water for the air handling unit above
Oral Pathology and continued fabricating the valve
package for the VAV boxes. The VFDs for the
air handling units above Oral Pathology and Gross
Anatomy were hung and the VAV boxes and supply
ductwork for the AHUs were installed. The
contractor pressure tested the manifold systems on
both new AHUs and the reheat lines are being run to
the VAV boxes. Supply ductwork and fire
dampers were installed for the AHU above Oral
Pathology and the contractor replaced the heating
hot water riser on the 7th Floor.
Two hundred and two (202) energy-efficient light
fixtures were installed on the 5th Floor of the
Dental School Clinic Building. Cast iron drain inlets were installed in the
Dental School campus student athletic fields for the
catch basins and seven of the catch basin tops (with
grates) were installed. The contractor used disc harrows to break up
the top layer of soil and old vegetation on the
athletic fields. Fill was added to the multi-purpose field and
to the softball outfield and crews began placing red
clay for the softball infield.
