The contractor making
the permanent repairs to the Allied Health/Nursing
Building has installed three 4-inch standby power
conduits and mounted the associated electrical box
on the exterior of the building. Workers
installed thermostats on the 2nd Floor and
receptacles in the 2nd Floor de-briefing rooms.
Ceiling grid was hung on the 2nd Floor in the
Gravier Street corridor and crews installed light
fixtures in the 2nd Floor corridors. Sheetrock was hung at both entrances of the
2nd Floor auditorium. Additional glass partitions were installed in
the 1st Floor offices and control wires were run to
the VAVs on the 1st Floor.
Door frames were
installed on the 1st and 2nd Floors. The contractor installed sheetrock, then
taped and floated both 1st Floor restroom ceilings.
They continued installing network drops on
the 1st Floor. The bases of the walls on the 1st Floor were
grouted in preparation for the epoxy flooring.
Workers have started installing the steel stairway
to the new generator platform.
The frame for
the first sliding glass door was installed on the
walkway bridge, while crews continued welding
structural steel below the walkway along the Gravier
Street side of the building.
The contractor
continued painting the exterior precast panels and
the 1st Floor columns of the new elevated
mechanical/electrical structure at the Student
Residence Hall. Four doors and the transom panels were
installed on the 2nd level of the new elevated
structure. Workers installed the frames for the louvered
panels on the 2nd level of the new building. They finished installing louver doors for the
domestic water pump room, the fire pump room and the
switch gear room. Twenty-three (23) new doors and door hardware
were installed on the 1st Floor of the main building
and nineteen (19) of the doors were painted. Crews ran and terminated wires for the
temporary generator in preparation for the planned
electrical shutdown. The original building switch gear was
disconnected and the related penetration in the
transformer vault was sealed. The two old generators were removed from the
1st Floor.
The Resource Center
contractor continued installing heat exchanger
piping and removed existing heating water piping.
Workers shot-blasted the concrete floors on
1st Floor in preparation for applying the epoxy
floor covering. The epoxy coating was applied to the floors
and two clear coats were laid over the epoxy. The four existing heating hot water pumps
were removed. The contractor began constructing the south
wall of the fire pump room on the 2nd Floor and
poured the concrete pad for the fire pump.
The work on the
Clinical Education Building continues. The
contractor encased the last section of underground
electrical duct bank in concrete near the generator
and backfilled the area. Crews poured concrete for the transformer
vault wall in the basement and removed the forms. Forms for the concrete walls that will
surround and protect passenger elevator #4 and
freight elevator #7 in the basement were
constructed. Crews removed non-operating electrical
switchgear equipment and associated conduits in the
basement and continued to weld and install 8-inch
chilled water pipes. The contractor erected scaffolding up to the
height of the loading dock canopy and began
demolishing the loading dock roof.
Upgrades to the CSRB
exhaust system continue. The contractor removed exhaust ductwork from
the 1st Floor feed room, relocated two vent lines in
the 1st Floor feed room and installed the new
exhaust ductwork. New exhaust ductwork was installed on the 1st
Floor for Rooms 105, 106, 107, 108, 109 and 110.The compressor for walk-in cooler 7G6 was
also relocated.
The AHU replacement
project at the Dental School has continued in the
Clinic Building and work has started in the
Administration Building. The contractor completed insulating heating
water lines near the Oral Pathology lab and started
insulating heating water lines near Gross Anatomy.
Workers continued running control wires for the
units near Oral Pathology and Gross Anatomy and the
electrical contractor continued pulling new
electrical wire for both AHUs in the
penthouse. Crews made the final duct tie-ins for
the AHU near Gross Anatomy and installed new fresh
air duct for the unit near Oral Pathology. The
contractor replaced the heating hot water riser on
the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Floors on the B side of
the Clinic Building. They replaced the heating
hot water riser in the stairwell near Oral Pathology
and isolation valves were installed on the heating
hot water risers for Floors 3 through 7 on the B
side of the Clinic Building. The controls
at the VAV boxes near Oral Pathology are being
tested. Conduit and control wire was run for the fire alarms
in the penthouse. The asbestos
contractor removed asbestos from the heating hot
water and chilled water pipes in the Clinic Building
penthouse.
Crews removed the
ceiling grid around in hallways around Room 2110
(near the Dean’s office and Faculty Practice) in the
Administration Bldg. They removed control and
electrical conduits from the ductwork in Room 2110
(a mechanical room). The controls contractor
also removed all pneumatic connections to the mixing
boxes on the 2nd Floor near the Dean’s Office. The asbestos insulation and ductwork in Room
2110 in the Administration Bldg were removed.
The contractor removed the two building management
system panels and electrical disconnects from the
wall in Room 2110.Heating hot water lines were also removed
from Room 2110. The contractor removed the CMU
wall near Faculty Practice and removed ceiling tiles
and lights from the Library study rooms. Heating hot
water pipe hangers were installed in the corridor
near Faculty Practice. The asbestos contractor
removed ductwork from the mechanical room, parking
services area, the Faculty Practice area and the
Men’s restroom.
The contractor responsible for waterproofing the
exteriors of the Dental School Clinic Building,
Administration Building and Power Plant finished
pressure washing the south side of the Clinic
building and crews continued pressure washing the east side of the Clinic
Building. Workers finished installing new caulk on the
cross-over section between the Clinic and
Administration Buildings. This section served as a mock up to allow the
architects and LSUHSC to evaluate the installation
methodology and compliance with the specifications.
Crews are now removing existing caulk,
grinding the surfaces, installing new backer rod and
installed new caulk on the south side of the Clinic
Building and the east side of the Administration
Building.
The contractor
finished installing the metal roof panels and
flashing on the section of covered walkway closest
to the District Energy Garage. They also finished installing metal roof
panels and flashing on the intermediate canopies on
the center section of walkway. Workers are now installing flashing and
snap-on seam strips on the entire roof.
The contractor working on the energy-efficiency
contact at the School of Dentistry replaced an
additional 10 light fixtures with new
high-efficiency fixtures on the 4th Floor of the
Clinic Building. Forty-three (43) light fixtures on the 3rd Floor of the Clinic Building
and fifty-four (54) fixtures on the 2nd floor of the
Administration Building were replaced with
high-efficiency fixtures.
The project to improve the lighting for the
parking lots at the School of Dentistry is
progressing well. The contractor re-poured 3 of the new light
pole bases that were deemed unacceptable after 1st
pour and subsequently demolished. They drove new pilings for the bases that
will support light poles #21, #22 and #24.The concrete forms were removed from all 25
light pole bases and crews are installing
direct-buried electrical conduit between the new
light poles.
Here are highlights of work

weeks.

RESIDENCE HALL PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor continued painting the exterior
precast panels and the columns on the 1st Floor of
the new addition.
- The contractor installed 23 new doors and door
hardware on the 1st Floor of the main building.
- They painted 19 of the new 23 doors installed on the
1st Floor.
- Four doors and the transom panels were installed on
the 2nd level of the new elevated structure.
- The contractor installed the frames for the louvered
panels on the 2nd level of the new addition
building.
- They finished installing louver doors for the
domestic water pump room, the fire pump room and the
switch gear room on the 2nd level of the new
addition building.
- Crews ran and terminated wires for the temporary

- They relocated two vent lines in the 1st Floor feed
room and the new exhaust ductwork was installed.
- The contractor installed exhaust ductwork on the 1st
Floor for Rooms 105, 106, 107, 108, 109 and 110.
- The compressor for walk-in cooler 7G6 was relocated.

- The contractor finished pressure washing the south
side of the Clinic building.
- Crews continued pressure washing the east side of
the Clinic Building.
- The contractor finished installing new caulk on the
cross-over section between the Clinic &
Administration Buildings.
- This section is serving as a mock up to allow the

DENTAL SCHOOL STUDENT RECREATIONAL FIELDS:
- The contractor applied hydro seed to the newly
graded athletic fields.
