The work on completing permanent repairs and
mitigation measures at the Allied Health/Nursing
Building continues. The contractor finished installing the grout
base in preparation for applying the epoxy flooring. Self-leveling compound was applied to the
floors of the 1st Floor offices near Bolivar Street
and the contractor primed the floors.
The 1st and 2nd coats of epoxy flooring were applied
in the 1st Floor offices and all 4 stairwells. The contractor continued installing the
stairs to the raised generator platform and welding
them in place. They poured concrete for the
bottom step of the stairwell to the new generator
platform. Workers ran conduit and pulled wire
for receptacles on the 2nd Floor near the MEB
loading dock and conduit for emergency circuits was
run near the 2nd Floor pump room. The
contractor ran conduit and pulled wire for light
fixtures on the 2nd Floor. A section of wall was removed in 2nd Floor
Stairwell 1 to make a doorway into the new
switchgear room. Workers continued framing out
the sheetrock fur down immediately inside of the new
entryway on the 2nd Floor.
The contractor
painted the remaining 4 doors on the 1st Floor of
the Student Residence Hall and installed the kick
plates and door thresholds. The doors on the 2nd level of the elevated
mechanical/electrical/plumbing structure were
painted and the door hardware was installed. Louvers were installed on the 2nd level of
the new structure near the basketball entrance gate
and on the roof level of building. Crews installed the fire alarm devices on the
2nd level of the new structure and the air intake
shroud for the emergency generator was installed.
The
contractor installed the interior CMU wall in the
domestic water pump room on the 2nd level of the new
building. The exhaust fans were installed in the
domestic water pump room and the generator room.
The Resource Center
contractor removed heating hot water piping from the
2nd Floor pump room and installed the steel framing
and metal decking. The concrete pad for the fourth and final
heating water pump was poured. The contractor installed end rails for the
steps of the generator platform on the roof. Workers installed all the doors along the
back corridor of the 1st Floor and replaced the
exterior doors at the loading dock and south
stairwell. Crews are painting the 1st Floor exterior
doors and installing the door hardware.
The loading dock roof
at the rear of the Clinical Education Building was
demolished. The sewer line adjacent to the emergency
generator and the transformer vault was repaired and
the sewer lines near the loading dock area were
relocated. The sewer line near the loading dock was
connected to the manhole and the contractor
backfilled the old transformer vault site. Wire was pulled in the basement for the
parking garage exhaust fans, the basement exhaust
fan and the elevator sump pump. Crews continued installing electrical
conduits on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th Floors and
removed existing conduits on the 5th Floor. Concrete forms for the shaft walls of the
passenger elevators in the basement are being
erected.
The contractor continued welding and installing
8-inch chilled water pipes and installing electrical
conduits in the basement.
The contractor installed new exhaust ductwork on the
1st Floor of the CSRB for Rooms 102, 103 and 113 and
relocated a 2-inch vent line in the corridor of the
1st Floor. They installed the testing equipment for the
pressure test of the ductwork installed in Phase 1A
of the project. The branch ductwork has been
run to the 1st Floor rooms that are part of Phase 1A
and the ductwork was insulated. The fire
sprinkler heads were reinstalled in the 1st Floor
corridor and crews began installing the new ceiling
supports in the 1st Floor corridor.
The project to replace the air handling units in the
Dental Clinic and Administration Buildings
continues. The contractor installed control wires from
the BAS panel to the VFDs in the Clinic Building
penthouse and AHU 8-B is now operational. Workers began replacing the heating hot water
riser on the A-side of the Clinic Building; the 6th
and 7th Floor risers have been replaced. Workers continued replacing the B-side
heating hot water riser; the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th
Floor risers in the Clinic Bldg. have been replaced.
The contractor ran conduit and pulled wire for the
duct detectors. Crews removed ceiling
tile, grid, and light fixtures for units 8A and 8D
and replaced ceiling tile and light fixtures for
units 8B. They completed the ceiling work
surrounding unit 8B (Gross Anatomy). The
contractor continued replacing ceiling tile and
light fixtures for unit 8C. The asbestos contractor removed ductwork and
installed collars for units 8A and 8D on the 8th
Floor. Workers continued installing spiral
ductwork and set four VAVs for unit 8A.
Crews removed the sheetrock wall near Faculty
Practice in the Administration Building and removed
ceiling lights and tile from the 3rd Floor
restrooms. Chilled water isolation valves were
installed in Room 2110 (the mechanical room).
The contractor removed the old chilled and heating
hot water lines and removed units L2A and L3A from
the mechanical room in the Administration Bldg.
They disassembled the new AHUs L2A and L3A so they
would fit into the freight elevator and moved them
into the Administration Building. The concrete pads for units L2A and L3A were
poured and AHUs L2A and L3A were reassembled and set
in place. The chilled water lines were run for both new
units.
Crews removed ceiling grid and lights from the
Library study rooms on the 3rd Floor of the
Administration Building. Ductwork was removed
from the ceiling in the study rooms of the Library
and asbestos insulation was removed from the heating
water lines. The contractor removed the plaster ceiling
from the Women’s restroom and removed lights and
ceiling tile from the 3rd Floor elevator lobby and
the landing area in front of the Bookstore.
They also
removed asbestos ductwork from the Bookstore and 3rd
Floor elevator lobby. Crews started running spiral
ductwork on the 2nd Floor directly out of the
mechanical room.
The exterior
waterproofing contractor finished pressure washing
the last bay on the east side of the Clinic Building
on the Dental School campus. They applied sealant to the south side of the
Clinic Building and half of the east side of the
Administration Building. Crews continued removing old caulk, cleaning
and preparing the surfaces and installing new backer
rod and caulk in the joints between the exterior
panels on the south and east sides of the Clinic
Building, the south side of the Administration
Building
and the east side of the crossover (between
Administration & Clinic Buildings).
The project to
upgrade the parking lot lighting on the Dental
campus is nearing completion. The contractor finished laying direct-buried
electrical conduit between the new light pole bases. The light poles were installed on all 24
light pole bases and the light fixtures were
installed. Workers connected the wiring to the light
poles and cleaned the construction site. The contractor installed the waterproof
enclosure and connected all underground conduits to
the enclosure.
Here are highlights of work
that has been accomplished during the past two
weeks.

- The contractor painted the remaining 4 doors on the
1st Floor of the main building (23 doors in total)
and installed the kick plates and door thresholds.
- The doors on the 2nd level of the elevated
mechanical/electrical/plumbing structure were
painted and the door hardware was installed.
- Louvers were installed on the 2nd level of the new
addition near the basketball entrance gate and on
the roof level of building.
- Crews installed the fire alarm devices on the 2nd
level of the new addition.
- The air intake shroud for the emergency generator
was installed.
- The contractor installed the interior CMU wall in
the domestic water pump room on the 2nd level of the

- Exhaust fans were installed in the domestic water
pump room and the generator room.
RESOURCE CENTER PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor removed heating hot water piping from
the 2nd Floor pump room.
- The steel framing and metal decking was installed in
the 2nd Floor pump room.
- The concrete pad for the fourth and final heating
water pump was poured.
- The contractor installed end rails for the steps of
the generator platform on the roof.
- Workers installed all the doors along the back
corridor of the 1st Floor.
- The contractor replaced the exterior doors at the
loading dock and south stairwell.
- Crews are painting the 1st Floor exterior doors and
installing the door hardware.
CEB PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The loading dock roof was demolished.
- The sewer line by the generator and the transformer
vault was repaired.
- The sewer lines near the loading dock area were
relocated.
- The sewer line near the loading dock was connected
to the sewer manhole.
- The contractor backfilled the old transformer vault
site.
- Wire was pulled in the basement for the parking
garage exhaust fans, the basement exhaust fan, and
the elevator sump pump.
- Crews continued installing electrical conduits on
the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th Floors and removed
existing conduits on the 5th Floor.
- Concrete forms for the shaft walls of the passenger
elevators in the basement are being erected.
- The contractor continued welding and installing
8-inch chilled water pipes and installing electrical
conduits in the basement.
CSRB EXHAUST UPGRADE:
- The contractor installed new exhaust ductwork on the
1st Floor for Rooms 102, 103 and 113.
- Crews relocated a 2-inch vent line in the corridor
of the 1st Floor.
- The contractor installed the testing equipment for
the pressure test of the ductwork installed in Phase
1A.
- The contractor began insulating the ductwork that
was installed as part of Phase 1A.
- The branch ductwork has been run to the 1st Floor
rooms that are part of Phase 1A and the ductwork was
insulated.
- The fire sprinkler heads were reinstalled in the 1st
Floor corridor.
- Crews began installing the ceiling supports in the
1st Floor corridor.
DENTAL SCHOOL AHU REPLACEMENT:
- The contractor installed control wires from the BAS
panel to the VFDs in the Clinic Bldg. penthouse.
- AHU 8-B is now operational.
- Workers began replacing the heating hot water riser
on the A-side.
- The 6th and 7th Floor risers have been replaced.
- Workers continued replacing the B-side heating hot
water riser.
- The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Floor risers in the Clinic
Bldg. have been replaced.
- The contractor ran conduit and pulled wire for the
duct detectors.
- Crews removed ceiling tile, grid, and light fixtures
for units 8A and 8D.
- The contractor replaced ceiling tile and light
fixtures for units 8B.
- They completed the ceiling work surrounding 8B
(Gross Anatomy).
- The contractor continued replacing ceiling tile and
light fixtures for unit 8C.
- 23 light fixtures have been installed on the 8th
Floor of the Clinic Building.
- The asbestos contractor removed ductwork, installed
collars for units 8A and 8D on the 8th Floor.
- Workers continued installing spiral ductwork and set

preparing the surfaces, and installing new backer
rod and caulk in the joints between the exterior
panels on the south and east sides of the Clinic
Building, the south side of the Administration
Building
and the east side of the crossover (between

CEB COVERED WALKWAY:
- The contractor continued installing flashing on the
roof of the walkway.
DENTAL SCHOOL PARKING LOT LIGHTING:
- The contractor finished laying direct-buried
electrical conduit between the new light poles.
- The light poles were installed on all 24 light pole
bases and the light fixtures were installed.
- Workers connected the wiring to all 24 light poles
and cleaned the construction site.
- The contractor installed the waterproof enclosure
and connected all underground conduits to the
enclosure.
