The Allied Health/Nursing Building contractor
continued roughing in the medical gas system for the
2nd Floor simulator rooms. Toilet partitions
were installed in the Men’s and Women’s restroom on
the 1st Floor and in the 2nd Floor restrooms.
The contractor is installing the metal track for the
wood panel wall system throughout the 2nd Floor.
The two storefronts for the elevator lobby were
delivered and set in place. The contractor
began erecting the 2nd Floor elevator lobby
doorframe on the MEB side of the lobby. Workers continued welding structural steel
under the walkway along Bolivar Street. Crews
installed the formwork and reinforcing for the
sloped floor in the new 2nd Floor auditorium. Door frames on the 1st Floor were painted and
the walls on the Roman St. side of the 1st Floor
were primed.
The contractor
finished painting the fire pump room and the
exterior soffit on the 2nd Floor of the new elevated
mechanical/electrical/plumbing structure at the
Student Residence Hall. They painted the CMU wall in the generator
room and the doors and doorframe on the 1st and 2nd
Floors. The
final coat of paint was applied on the sprinkler
pipes in the fire pump room and the 1st Floor
columns were painted. Thermostats and damper controls were
installed in both pump rooms and in the generator
room.
Smoke detectors and dampers were installed on 2nd
Floor of the new structure. Crews installed insulation for the louver
doors on the 2nd level of the new building. A sprinkler head was installed for the trash
chute in B-Tower. The door for the fire command room on the 2nd
Floor was installed and the old command room door
was removed. The conduit and wiring for the fuel storage
system was installed.
Grout was placed
behind the granite wall panels in the 1st Floor
elevator lobby of the Resource Center. The contractor installed door closers on the
1st Floor. Sheetrock ceilings were installed in the
housekeeping closet and fire pump room and the the
water piping for the mop sink in the housekeeping
closet was installed. Workers are finishing the walls in the
housekeeping closet. Steel decking and stairs were installed in
the 2nd Floor pump room and the contractor placed
two concrete pads for the domestic hot water pumps. The domestic cold water pumps were set in
place in the pump room. Work has resumed on the installation of the
generator fuel line on the 8th Floor.
Concrete was poured
for an elevator shaft wall in the basement of the
Clinical Education Building. Workers began installing temporary walls on
the 2nd Floor. The contractor continued installing conduits
on the 1st and 3rd Floors and running electrical
wires on the 1st Floor. Additional abandoned conduits in the basement
are being removed. The contractor continued installing chilled
water lines in the basement and they are removing
the elevator shaft in the library area.
The CSRB exhaust upgrade contractor finished
painting the new plaster ceiling on the 1st Floor. The floor penetrations for exhaust riser #4
were cut on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Floors
and a roof drain was relocated on the 7th Floor. The contractor removed the roof in the area
of the new fans for Exhaust System #3, cut two roof
penetrations, set the roof curb and laid the roofing
material on the roof curb. The fan controls for Exhaust Systems #2 and
#3 and the fire sprinklers for Exhaust Systems #1,
#2 and #4 were relocated. The support frame for the VFDS that are part
of Exhaust Systems #1 and #2 and the plenum support
for Exhaust System #4 were installed. The demolition of the ceiling on the 2nd
Floor has been completed.
Progress continues on the air handling replacement
project at the School of Dentistry buildings. The contractor finished installing the main
chilled water lines for AHU 8A and began installing
the main chilled water lines for AHU 8D in the
Clinic Building. They installed the rectangular
supply ductwork and fresh air ductwork for units 8A
and 8D and insulation work on the ducts
continues. Crews ran the main heating water lines
for AHU 8A and AHU 8D and the final connections to
the heating water piping on the 8th Floor have been
completed. The contractor continues installing the
transitions between the VAVs and the spiral ductwork
for both units. Control wires were run back to the VAVs for
AHUs 8A and 8D and the thermostats are being
installed. The contractor set both of the new VFDs and
started pulling wire for unit 8A.
The abatement
contractor installed a collar on the 8th Floor in
the hallway and removed ductwork in Room 8312.
The contractor continued installing the reheat lines
for VAVs in the Administration Building.
The
contractor has now completed all of the VAVs for
L2A. The
reheat lines were pressure tested and passed.
Supply taps were installed on all the spiral
ductwork and prepped for pressure testing. The asbestos contractor removed the old
heating hot water insulation in mechanical room 2302
and crews insulated heating water lines and duct
work in the room. The contractor continued
installing the VAV boxes on the 3rd Floor.
The building exterior
waterproofing contractor continues to remove the old
caulking from the joints between the exterior
building panels of the Dental School Clinic and
Administration Buildings. They continue installing new backer rod and
caulk on the north and east sides of the Clinic
Building and on the south side of the Administration
Building. They
have now started work on the west side of the
Administration Building.
The contractor
finished installing the under-layer material on
canopy A of the covered walkway at the Claiborne
Street entrance to the District Energy Garage and
the curved steel roof decking was installed. Workers completed installing the drip
flashing and snap-on seam strips on canopy A. The corrugated roof decking was installed on
canopy B adjacent to the Clinical Education
Building. Crews installed the ice and water guard
membrane on canopy B and the metal roof panels and
flashing are being installed.
Here are highlights of work

- The contractor finished painting the fire pump room
and the exterior soffit on the 2nd Floor of the new
elevated mechanical/electrical/plumbing structure.
- They painted the CMU wall in the generator room on
the 2nd Floor of the new building.
- The contractor painted the doors and doorframe on
the 1st and 2nd Floors and touched up paint
throughout both floors.
- They applied the final coat of paint on the
sprinkler pipes in the fire pump room.
- The contractor painted the 1st Floor columns.
- Thermostats and damper controls were installed in
both of the pump rooms and the generator room.
- Smoke detectors and dampers were installed on 2nd
Floor of the new structure.
- They installed insulation for the louver doors on
the 2nd level of the new building.
- A sprinkler head was installed for the trash chute
in B-Tower.
- The door for the fire command room on the 2nd Floor
was installed and the old command room door was
removed.
- They installed conduit and wiring for the fuel

RESOURCE CENTER PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor installed door closers on the 1st
Floor.

housekeeping closet and fire pump room.
- The contractor installed the water piping for the
mop sink in the 2nd Floor housekeeping closet.
- They began finishing the walls in the housekeeping
closet next to the fire pump room.
- Steel decking and stairs were installed in the 2nd
Floor pump room.
- The contractor placed two concrete pads for the
domestic hot water pumps in the 2nd Floor pump room.
- The domestic cold water pumps were set in place in
the 2nd Floor pump room.
- The contractor resumed installation of the generator
fuel line on the 8th Floor.
CEB PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- Concrete was poured for the elevator shaft wall in
the basement.
- The contractor set the roof curb for exhaust system
#3.
- Workers began installing temporary walls on the 2nd
Floor.
- The contractor continued installing conduits on the
1st and 3rd Floors and electrical wires on the 1st
Floor.
- Abandoned conduits in the basement are being
removed.
- The contractor continued installing chilled water
lines in the basement.
- Crews continued to erect forms for elevator shaft
wall in the basement.
- They are removing the elevator shaft in the library
area.
CSRB EXHAUST UPGRADE:
- The contractor finished painting the new plaster
ceiling on the 1st Floor.
- The floor penetrations for exhaust riser #4 were cut
on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Floors.
- Workers relocated a roof drain on the 7th Floor.
- The contractor removed the roof in the area of the
new fans for Exhaust System #3.
- They cut the two roof penetrations for Exhaust
System #3, set the roof curb and applied roofing
material for the roof curb.
- The fan controls for Exhaust Systems #2 and #3 were
relocated.
- The contractor relocated the fire sprinklers for
Exhaust System #1, #2 and #4.
- The support frame for the VFDS that are part of
Exhaust Systems #1 and #2 was installed.
- The contractor installed the plenum support for
Exhaust System 4.
- The demolition of the ceiling on the 2nd Floor has
been completed.
DENTAL SCHOOL AHU REPLACEMENT:
- The contractor finished installing the main chilled
water lines for AHU 8A and began installing the main
chilled water lines for AHU 8D in the Clinic
Building.
- They installed the rectangular supply ductwork and
fresh air ductwork for units 8A and 8D.
- The contractor continues insulating the rectangular
supply ductwork and fresh air ductwork for units 8A
and 8D.
- Crews ran the main heating water lines for AHU 8A
and AHU 8D.
- The final connections to the heating water piping on
the 8th Floor have been completed.
- The heating hot water line for unit 8A was pressure
tested.
- The contractor continues installing the transitions
between the VAVs and the spiral ductwork for both
units; 8A and 8D.
- Crews continue installing thermostats and ran
control wires back to VAVs for both units.
- The contractor set both VFDs and started pulling
wire for unit 8A.
- The abatement contractor installed a collar on the
8th Floor in the hallway and removed ductwork in
Room 8312 of the Clinic Building.
- The contractor continued installing the reheat lines
for VAVs in the Administration Building.
- The contractor has now completed all VAVs for L2A
and started the pressure test for the re-heat lines.
- Supply taps were installed on all the spiral
ductwork and prepped for pressure testing.
- The reheat lines were pressure tested and passed.
- The asbestos contractor removed the heating hot
water insulation in mechanical room 2302 in the
Administration Building.
- Crews insulated heating water lines and duct work in
mechanical room 2302.
- The contractor continued installing the VAV boxes on
the 3rd Floor of the Administration Building.
DENTAL SCHOOL BLDG EXTERIOR
WATERPROOFING:
- The contractor continues to remove the old caulking
from the joints between the exterior building
panels.
- They continue installing new backer rod and caulk on
the north and east sides of the Clinic Building and
on the south side of the Administration Building.
- They started work on the west side of the
Administration Building.
CEB COVERED WALKWAY:
- The contractor finished installing the under-layer
material on canopy A at the Claiborne Street
entrance to the District Energy Garage.
- The curved steel roof decking was installed on
canopy A.
- Workers completed installing the drip flashing and
snap-on seam strips on canopy A.
- The corrugated roof decking was installed on canopy
B beside the Clinical Education Building.
- Crews installed the ice and water guard membrane on
canopy B.
- The contractor is installing the metal roof panels
and flashing on canopy B at the end of the walkway
closest to the Clinical Education Building.
