The work on the permanent repairs and mitigation at
the Clinical Education Building continues. The contractor installed the steel structure
for the 3rd and 4th levels of
the 1st bay of the new building in the
Lakeside lot and erected the steel framing for the 2nd
and 3rd levels of the 2nd bay. Handrails were welded to the exterior stairs
for the new building and workers are roughing in for
the exterior lighting. The contractor continued installing
electrical conduits in Room 117 and 117B and an
electrical junction box was installed in Room 117. They finished erecting concrete forms for
another section of the flood wall in the parking
garage and poured the concrete. The concrete forms were removed and a
waterproof coating was applied to the wall.
The CSRB exhaust system upgrade contractor installed
exit signs and light fixtures in the 2nd
Floor corridors. The plaster ceiling in the feed room on the 1st
Floor was installed and painted and the fire
sprinkler heads were installed. A pressure test was performed on the new
exhaust riser for exhaust system #1.
The
contractor is installing the VFDs and insulating the
exhaust riser for exhaust system #1. Ductwork is being installed on the 7th
Floor for exhaust system #2.
Crews
continued the installation of the VFDs on the roof
for exhaust system #3 and a new motor was installed
for fan 3A. Wiring
for the new fan and VFDs for exhaust system #4 was
pulled.
The contractor tested the VFDs for exhaust system
#9.
The ceiling in the BSL3 Lab in the CSRB has been
repaired and workers started the operational testing
of the exhaust fans for the BSL3 lab.
The ceiling
was removed from Room 326, the ductwork was
installed and the ceiling was re-installed. The contractor began removing the ceiling in
the cage washing area. Crews installed ductwork in Rooms 630A, 533A
and 412G and began repairing the ceiling and walls
in Room 729.
The AHU replacement contractor finished insulating
the heating hot water lines and supply duct on the 5th
Floor of the Dental School’s Clinic Building and the
supply and heating hot water lines on the 2nd
Floor are being insulated. Work continued on
the ceiling installation in the 2nd and 5th
Floor restrooms. The contractor installed ceiling grid on the
5th Floor and in the 2nd Floor
clinic area. The control wire for the 5th and 2nd
Floors is being run. The supply and fresh air ductwork was
installed on the 2nd Floor. CMU blocks surrounding the 2nd and
5th Floor mechanical room door frames
were installed. The contractor started up unit 5A; the unit
is currently running in hand.
The abatement contractor finished their work in the
5B mechanical room in the Clinic Building. The
demolition of the old unit 5B is complete and the
concrete pad for the new unit was poured. The
contractor welded the metal pan for the new unit and
crews are installing supply ductwork and VAVs for
unit 5B. The asbestos contractor abated mechanical
rooms 7A and 7D in the Clinic Building. The contractor demolished the old chilled
water lines for unit 7D.
The contractor installed 10 light fixtures in the
study rooms in the Administration Building and crews
moved the book shelves that were temporarily
relocated to allow access to the ceilings in the 1st
half of the Library back into place. The
contractor is now removing lights and ceiling in the
2nd half of the Library. The restroom ceilings on the 3rd
Floor of the Administration Building have been
finished. The contractor started demolishing electrical
and pneumatic conduit in the 4th Floor
mechanical room. The CMU block wall was
removed from in front of the mechanical room that
contains units L4C and L4D. Crews are removing the piping to L4C and L4D
and the new chilled water bypass loop was installed
in the L4C/L4D mechanical room.
The contractor responsible for the permanent repair
and mitigation contracts at the Student Residence
Hall, the Allied Health/Nursing Building and the
Resource Center has been placed in default by the
Office of Facility Planning and Control. Work at the Student Residence Hall is largely
completed except for some punch list items, however
significant work remains to be completed at the
other two buildings. The bonding company that guarantees the
completion of the contracts has been brought into
the process. They are meeting with the architects to
determine the current status of each project and
will develop specific plans to complete the work
under each contract.
Here are highlights of work that has been
accomplished during the past two weeks.
CEB PERMANENT REPAIRS & MITIGATION:
- The contractor installed the steel structure for the
3rd and 4th levels of the 1st
bay of the new building in the Lakeside lot.
- They erected the steel framing for the 2nd
and 3rd levels of the 2nd bay
of the new mechanical/electrical building.
- Handrails were welded to the exterior stairs for the
new building.
- The contractor is roughing in for the exterior
lighting for the new MEP building.
- Workers continued installing electrical conduits in
Room 117 and 117B and an electrical junction box was
installed in Room 117.
- Workers finished erecting concrete forms for the
flood wall in the parking garage and poured the
concrete.
- The contractor removed the concrete forms from the
flood wall in the parking garage and applied a
waterproof coating to the wall.
- Workers continued installing conduits along the 1st
Floor corridor.
CSRB EXHAUST UPGRADE:
- The contractor installed exit signs and light
fixtures in the 2nd Floor corridors.
- The plaster ceiling in the feed room on the 1st
Floor was installed and painted.

room.
- A pressure test was performed on the new exhaust
