NOTICE:  There will be a shutdown of all domestic water and condenser water at the Clinical Sciences Research Building from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 17th.  During this outage, there will be no water at any faucets or toilets.  Additionally, the walk-in coolers, freezers and incubators will be shut down for up to 3 hours during this outage.

Please refrain from opening any faucets or flushing any toilets during the stated hours.  This will assist us in returning the building to full water service more quickly.  All walk-in coolers, freezers and incubators will be checked for proper operation once the water service is restored. 

Also this weekend, contractors will conduct major maintenance and repairs to all exhaust systems on the roof of the CSRB.  This will involve the complete shutdown of the systems being repaired from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 17th and again from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 18th.

Work on exhaust systems #2 and #4 (serving the Gravier Street side of the building) will commence first.  Also, the supply air handling units serving floors 1-7 on that side of the building will be shut down during this outage.  Once the work is complete, exhaust systems #2 and #4 will be returned to service as well as the air handling units serving the Gravier Street side of the building.  Then exhaust systems #1 and #3 (serving the Perdido Street side of the building) will be shut down along with the air handling units serving that side of the building.

This means that no fume hood exhaust, canopy exhaust or general room exhaust will be functioning while repairs are in progress.  Also, air conditioning units serving the affected side of the building will be turned off.  Please remove chemicals and other items from fume hoods during this outage.  Workers will be working inside the exhaust system equipment on the roof.

MEB Morgue Cooler:

• The project was substantially completed as of 11/6/2007.
• The contractor is working on completing the remaining punch list items. 
• A training session on operation and maintenance of the controllers and the condensing units was given to the engineers on 11/14/2007.

MEB Cafeteria:

• Zimmer continues to work on their punch list items.
• Mosaic tiles are being installed on the four columns.
• Advanced Millworks continue to work on the booths on the elevated deck.

1542 Tulane Ave. :

• American Sprinkler Co is on site replacing a defective coupling on the fire pump assembly.
• Pipe insulators were on site insulating the steam lines in the basement.
• In Stairwell B, the painting contractor removed all of the cove base in the stairwell and is touching-up the walls on Floors 4 – 8.
• They are priming the walls and handrails on Floors 1 – 3.
• The contractor is sanding the walls on Floors 7 – 8, floating the walls on Floors 3 – 6, and is removing the peeling paint on Floors 1 – 2 in Stairwell A. 
• Stratos Elevator continues to work on Elevator #7 and #8. 
• The contractor is changing the governor cables for Elevator #8 and is demolishing the cab for Elevator #7. 
• Faculty members continue to clean out offices and remove personal items and contents throughout the building.

Landscaping Project:

• Crews installed the remaining 1/2 pallet of sod on the S. Roman St. side of the Allied Health/Nursing Building.
• They continued adding topsoil and grading in the same area in preparation for installing ornamental plants.

Lighting Project:

• New exterior lights have been installed on the Bolivar side of the MEB and the new lights are being installed on the Roman St. side of the MEB.
