The Medical Education Building Air Handling Unit Replacement project continues
with the installation of two more air handling units.The next two air handling units to be
replaced serve the South Roman Street/MEB loading dock corner of the 6th and
7th floors.Installation of these units
will start at 6:00 PM on Friday, July 31st, and be completed by August
14th.In order to remove the old units and
install the new units, the contractor will erect a crane on South Roman Street at the intersection
with the MEB loading dock.Subsequently,
South Roman Street
will be closed from the intersection with Perdido Street to the MEB loading dock
from 9:00 AM on Friday, July 31st, until 9:00 PM on Sunday, August 2nd.The sidewalk along South Roman Street adjacent to the MEB
will also be closed to pedestrian traffic.This is required to protect pedestrians from any falling objects while
work is being preformed overhead.
On Saturday, August 1st, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM there will be an electrical
shutdown at the Lions/LSU Clinics Building.This shutdown is needed to allow Entergy to repair a transformer in the
building.Normal power will be off in
the entire building during this period, but emergency power will be on to maintain
emergency lights and to power some specific equipment in the building â€“ items
that are plugged into the red receptacles.This normal power outage will cause the following service interruptions:
A domestic hot and cold water outage.There will be no hot or cold water available at any faucet, toilet, or urinal in the building during the outage.Please refrain from using any water during the outage.
An air conditioning outage.There will be no air conditioning in the building for the duration of the shutdown.The 9th floor Animal Care facility is an exception.
An exhaust fan outage.This will affect all fume hoods throughout the building.Please do not attempt to use any fume hoods or biocabinets connected to building exhaust.Also, please secure any chemicals that normally are exhausted.
A perchloric acid exhaust outage.This will affect all perchloric acid fume hoods.
A medical air and vacuum outage.There will be no medical air or vacuum at any valve in the labs.Please do not open any valves during the outage.
All normal lighting and normal power receptacles will be out of service.Please do not move equipment to emergency receptacles as this can cause overloading of circuits, damaging equipment and/or contents.
No elevators will operate.
1542 TULANE AVE. :
The contractor continued the installation of the coffee kiosk.
The electrical contractor roughed-in outlet boxes for the coffee kiosk equipment.
Facility Services continued final grading of the planting beds on the Tulane Avenue side of theRoman Street Garage.
HALL 2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:
The contractor continued framing the wall and soffit in front of the telephone panel in the A Tower lobby area.
The flooring contractor continued grouting the porcelain base in the A & B Tower lobby area.
The contractor chipped concrete wall to install conduit and data junction box for the TV enclosure.
HEALTH/NURSING BLDG. ROOF REPLACEMENT:
The contractor continued installing aluminum flashing around the 4th Floor ledge near Gravier Street .
The contractor replaced a granite panel where the exterior elevator connected to the building.
AIR HANDLING UNIT REPLACEMENT:
Facility Services completed installing temporary AC units in the A quadrant (corner of South Roman Street and the MEB loading dock).
The contractor continued insulating, testing and balancing air handling unit 6-B and 7-B.
2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:
The contractor adjusted hidden doors.
4th FLOOR MDL #3 RENOVATIONS:
The contractor repaired the ceiling in front of Room 4210A and began working on punch list items.
AUDITORIUMS A & B RENOVATIONS:
The electrical contractor continued testing of the network drops in Auditorium B.
The contractor continued to complete punch-list items for Auditoriums A & B.
