MONDAY, AUGUST 17, 2009

NOTICE:  There will be a natural gas outage on the 7th Floor of the Clinical Sciences Research Building from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19th, 2009.  This outage is needed in order to install a gas line and valve in a laboratory on the 7th Floor.  The 7th Floor laboratory occupants should refrain from opening any gas valves during the outage.  Only the 7th Floor is affected by this outage.

NOTICE:  The Medical Education Building Air Handling Unit Replacement project continues.  The next two air handling units to be replaced serve the Perdido Street/Bolivar Street corner (Quadrant D) of the 4th and 5th floors.  Installation of these units will start at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 21st. 

The contractor needs to relocate electrical power conduits for these new air conditioning units.  Consequently, there will be an electrical outage on Tuesday, August 18th, from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM to relocate electrical conduits feeding emergency panel ELD5B.  During this outage there will be no power to equipment plugged into emergency power receptacles in 5th floor labs and offices on the Bolivar Street side of the building that are served out of main panel ELD5B.  Receptacles are labeled in the labs, identifying the panel that supplies the power to the receptacle. 

1542 TULANE AVE. :

• The plumbing contractor made the final connections for the 3-compartment sink and grease trap, the hand-wash sink, and ice maker that serve the coffee kiosk in the 1st Floor lounge.
• Facility Services replaced the automatic double-doors on the 1st Floor. 
• The glass contractor continued to replace various broken windows. 

MEB AIR HANDLING UNIT REPLACEMENT:

• Facility Services commenced relocating the temporary A/C units from 6th and 7th floor A Quadrant (corner of South Roman Street and the MEB loading dock) to the 4th and 5th floor Quadrant D (corner of Bolivar Street and Perdido Street).
• The contractor continued testing and balancing air handling units 6-A and 7-A.

MEB 7TH FLOOR PHYSIOLOGY LABS RENOVATIONS:

• The contractor installed vinyl flooring in Room 7207 (the walk-in cooler).

RESIDENCE HALL 2nd FLOOR LOBBY RENOVATIONS:  

• The flooring contractor installed carpet in the A Tower lobby area and on both mezzanine floors. 
• The network contractor pulled network wires in the C Tower lobby area. 
• The contractor taped and floated the walls adjacent to the TV cabinet area.
