Library Classes – Tomorrow – Dig In!

Two classes are being offered tomorrow (Wednesday, October 8th). The General Library Systems Class will be held from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at the Isché Library. And Navigating E-Journals Class will be held at the Dental Library from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Sign up now for either class by calling the Circulation Desk at either the Isché or Dental Libraries (504-568-5550 or 504-941-8158).

The RefWorks class next Wednesday, Aug. 6th from 3-4pm is now full. We will have another class on this awesome bibliographic management solution sometime in late September/early October.

In the meantime, there are online instruction opportunities available.

RefWorks Advanced Features

This 75-minute session covers topics such as advanced searching, using RefGrab-It to import data, working offline, editing multiple references, viewing, printing and sorting references and more. Attendees should have a working knowledge of RefWorks?óÔé¼Ôäó basic features.

RefWorks is an online research management, writing and collaboration tool designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies, similar to EndNote. RefWorks is a free service for LSUHSC members.

Join Maureen ?óÔé¼?ôMolly?óÔé¼?Ø Knapp for a basic overview of RefWorks on Monday November 5th from 12-1pm in the Library Lab 401K. This one hour class will show you how to create a RefWorks account and use it in tandem with the research database of your choice to save time and frustration when writing your next research article.

Get your Google on — Today (4/17) from 12-1pm in the library computer lab

Julie Schiavo, Dental Librarian and Google extraordinaire, will teach the class Advanced Googling TODAY in the Library Computer Lab 401K from 12-1pm.

Join us to learn tricks and tips for a more focused search, as well as some of the products Google offers such as Google Scholar, Images, and Book Search. We will also discuss how to evaluate the information found on the internet and what should be trusted.
