We do not have an estimated time when it will be restored.

Network Issues

The Network Center in Baton Rouge unexpectedly lost power around 7:30 am this morning. Systems have been slowly coming back online as the IT department finds alternatives. Full power will not be restored until the end of the day (fingers crossed).

At this moment, we do not have access to our online catalog, INNOPAC, but the Libraries’ webpages have been restored. Please contact us for work arounds.

Our chat and email services do seem to be back up. And telephone service was unaffected.

Parking at Dental Friday 5/15

On Friday, May 15th, the original Visitors Parking Lot at the Dental School Administration and Clinic Buildings (across Florida Avenue by the railroad tracks) will be closed the entire day. This closure is necessary to allow for the placement of modular buildings for the School of Dentistry Inter-Professional Primary Care Clinic. Please see this illustration highlighting the area of the closure.

PayPaw Services Scheduled Maintenance

PayPaw will be down for most of Thursday, May 14th for scheduled maintenance. All printers and photocopiers will be inoperable during this window. This outage will be campus-wide.

A new selection of articles has been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. They can be viewed in the Reference area, on the wall between the main entrance and the Library elevator, on the third floor of the Resource Center Building.

Jazz Fest Parking at the Dental School

In case you missed the email from J. Pegues, Vice Chancellor for Administration:

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival will be held at the New Orleans Fairgrounds this weekend (24 – 26 April) and next week (30 April – 03 May).   Dean Henry Gremillion, DDS, has kindly extended an invitation to LSU Health New Orleans faculty, staff, and students to park at the Dental School, space permitting, with their LSUHSC IDs and parking gate cards.  University Police will accommodate entering and exiting through the Tensas Street Gate (the back walk-thru gate) on the above-referenced dates until 7:30 P.M. each day.  After 7:30 P.M., entering and exiting at the Tensas Street Gate will be via swiping your LSUHSC ID.  Access will also be available through the Florida Avenue drive-in.  All LSUHSC rules and regulations remain in effect regarding proper use and care of our campus properties and facilities.  Please see Chief William Joseph for any other questions.

Hyperbaric – Brain Injury Trial in the News

Dr. Paul Harch‘s latest clinical trial on the effects of hyperbaric oxygen treatments on brain injured patients is in the news. The study is seeking 50 patients to undergo 40 treatments.

Free Dental Work

3D printing coming soon!

The LSUHSC-NO Libraries is proud to announce that it has been awarded the first  National Network of Libraries of Medicine South Central Region’s (NN/LM SCR) Emerging Technologies Award.  With the funds provided by this award, the Libraries will purchase two 3 dimensional printers and two 3 dimensional scanners to be placed in the libraries.  This equipment will be available for free to everyone affiliated with LSUHSC-NO.

LSUHSC-NO Libraries’ goal of this project is to provide students with a friendly, welcoming, environment to innovate, create, collaborate, and discover.  The library seeks to give students, staff, and faculty opportunities to explore 3D technology in an accessible location without exorbitant costs.  These scanners and printers will offer the means to build prototypes, create models, improve equipment, and so on, limited only by one’s imagination.

The mission of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by providing all U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving the public’s access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health. The Program is coordinated by the National Library of Medicine and carried out through a nationwide network of health science libraries and information centers.  This year, the South Central Region instituted the Emerging Technology Award to to assist libraries in the integration of new and emerging technologies in their institutions to promote health information services.
