The Dental Library will be open from 8 am to 5 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, December 21st and 22nd, and from 8 am to 4:30 pm on Friday, December 23rd. Regular hours (8 am to 8 pm) will be observed on Monday and Tuesday, December 19th and 20th.
The Dental Library has re-opened! The Library has been closed to the public since mid-August for HVAC & ceiling work.

Kandice Osborne has joined the Dental Library staff as Sunday and evening supervisor. She will work Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Kandice is a native of Kenner and a graduate of UNO. She most recently worked at the UNO Credit Union.
Kandice’s arrival coincides with the reopening of the library after our August closing for air conditioning system renovations. We’re happy to welcome her to the Dental Library staff.
Beginning Tuesday, August 16, the Dental Library will be closed for several months, to allow for work on the air conditioning system. Library staff can best be reached by email after the 15th.

Although the library will be closed, we may be able to retrieve books for you to borrow. Please contact Liz or Julie if there is anything you need. We are still available to help with online searches, reference questions, accessing articles, etc.
The PayPaw printer and the coin-op/PayPaw photocopier will be moved to Room 5316 and will be available whenever the school is open. For assistance during regular business hours, contact Computer Services in Room 5312.

Congratulations to Liz Strother, Associate Director for Dental Library Services, on her academic promotion to Professor/Librarian. Liz has worked long and hard to merit this most deserved promotion!
Liz has worked at LSUHSC for more than 30 years, she has more than 30 publications to her credit and has taught classes to dental students for many years. She has served the University in many ways and has been on more than 30 committees in service to professional organizations.

March 6-12, 2011, has been designated by the American Dental Assistants Association, along with the American Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Association and the Canadian Dental AssistantsÔÇÖ Association, as the perfect time to acknowledge and recognize the versatile, multitalented member of the dental teamÔÇöyour Dental Assistant.
We know that in most of the United States, it’s just another Tuesday…but here in New Orleans, it’s Mardi Gras. The LSUHSC Libraries (and our entire campus) is closed today in celebration.
Both the Dental and Isché Libraries will have altered schedules for carnival weekend and will be closed on Mardi Gras day; additionally, Dental will have reduced hours for days after Mardi Gras for Spring Break.

On February 15, Tessie Prevost Williams, administrative assistant in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, presented “Integrating New Orleans Schools: The Civil Rights Movement Through the Eyes of a Child,” the second in a series of lectures sponsored by the School of Dentistry Library. In 1960 Tessie was one of four black children selected to integrate two New Orleans elementary schools. Tessie described her experiences to an audience of faculty, staff, and students. More of her story is available on the School of Dentistry web site.
The LSUHSC Libraries provide access to Exam Master, an online resource that helps students prepare for exams. Exam Master includes USMLE and NBDE practice tests, as well as medical subject reviews.
First time users must create an Exam Master username and password.

Password is one you create.
The LSUHSC Libraries (both Isché and Dental) will be closed on Monday, January 17th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Holiday. Both Libraries will be open regular hours, 1:30-10 pm, on Sunday, January 16th.
