January Faculty Publications

A new selection of articles have been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. With the currently changes, we’ve decided to post the publications digitally. Check out the display below:

Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMedSCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Reference Librarian Kathy Kerdolff and is available to the general public here or via the Library’s webpage. A PDF of a bibliography of this month’s additions will soon be available here. If you have an article you would like us to highlight or if you have any questions regarding the display or the database, you can contact Kathy Kerdolff.

UPDATE: JAPMA now available

Update: As of Monday, January 25, we are able to access JAPMA for 1996 to present.

Original post: We have lost all online access to articles for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. The Library does have print issues for 1985 through 2005, and we are working to have the problem resolved.

If you need help with this or any other Library resources, contact us.

UPDATE: Access to Genetics 2020 issues

UPDATE: As of January 11, 2021, we now have access to 2020 issues of Genetics via the new publisher’s site. You should now see articles available from the Oxford University Press Medicine Collection. Our access to 2020 issues from the Society’s page is still not available.

We have lost access to all 2020 issues of the journal Genetics. We are currently working to notify the publisher to get our access restored. All issues older than one year are available to anyone.

This journal is moving to Oxford University Press for 2021, but the content is not available on their site yet. As soon as the issues are posted, you will see a link to the Oxford site.

If you have any questions about this or any other Library resources please contact us.

Fixed: Multiple journal sites currently unavailable

UPDATE: The problem appears to be resolved and all journals are available as usual.

A platform that provides access to multiple journals is currently undergoing maintenance, so the journals hosted by Atypon are unavailable.

This maintenance is affecting journals from the American Chemical Society, ASHA, the American Physiological Society, Mary Ann Liebert, New England Journal of Medicine, and multiple others.

We were not notified of this maintenance but will update as soon as we have more information

If you need help with this or any Library resources, please contact us.

2021 JoVE changes

As a result of changes in subscription options and lack of funding, we will be losing all access to the following three sections of JoVE as of January 1, 2021:

  • JoVE Biochemistry
  • JoVE Developmental Biology
  • JoVE Genetics

We will still keep access to JoVE Biology, Immunology & Infection, Medicine, and Neuroscience.

If you need any assistance with this or other Library resources please contact us.

AAO ebooks subscription ending

The American Academy of Ophthalmology is no longer offering an institutional subscription to their ebooks, and as such, our access will expire on November 15, 2020.

The library has shared the cost of this subscription with the Department of Ophthalmology for the past few years, and we have enjoyed working with the department to provide access to these books.

Let LibKey Nomad help you get articles!

LibKey Nomad logo

Are you finding it difficult to get the full text or PDF of articles? Frustrated by having to log in over and over? LibKey Nomad is here to help!

With so many activities happening off campus, it’s sometimes a bit more difficult to get to the articles you need. We have quite a few tools that can help, including a browser extension called LibKey Nomad. It is available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Vivaldi, and Brave browsers and it brings the Library’s journal holdings to you.

Although it’s usually best to start off at the Library’s site to start your research, if you are going directly to publishers’ sites through Google Scholar or a similar site, LibKey Nomad will provide links to get you to the articles very easily.

When you get to a page with a journal article, just look for one of the LibKey Nomad icons that will get you to that full text:

You will be asked to log in when needed, but you may also be directed to a free version of the article if it is available.

LibKey Nomad also makes using PubMed and Scopus super easy, so be sure to check it out. More information about this extension, including videos, download links, and other tips can be found on our LibKey Nomad LibGuide.

UPDATE: As of late Friday, October 9, 2020, all problems logging in with your LSUHSC-NO e-mail address and password have been resolved.

To get to Library resources you will need to follow one of our links and then log in using a Library barcode and PIN. If you do not have a barcode and PIN you can still log in using your LSUHSC-NO username and password.

When you see this screen, follow the steps:
