While you were hopefully enjoying your summer break, the Library has been busy adding ebooks! The new database from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) adds over 200 ebooks to our collection. This extensive collection includes a wide range of pediatric topics, from dermatology to parenting. There are coding manuals and ebooks on practice management, as well as patient guidelines for new parents. There are even a few titles in Spanish.

You can browse the database or search by topic or title. The titles can also be accessed through the Library catalog. And we also have access to the AAP database of neonatal resuscitation ebooks.

Stop by the 3rd floor Library Commons in the Resource Center Building for coffee, breakfast, and a chance to meet the librarians and library staff. We hope to see you there!
The LSUHSC Libraries are happy to present a National Library of Medicine Traveling Exhibit:
Pick Your Poison: Intoxicating Pleasures & Medical Prescriptions has moved to the Dental Library from August 5th through the 23rd.
It was previously at the Isché Library from July 16th through August 2nd.
A new selection of articles have been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16.
Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Reference Librarian Kathy Kerdolff and is available to the general public here or via the Library’s webpage. Summer Hours ends today at the Isché Library. The Main Library is open until 12 midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 8 pm on Fridays. Opening remains at 7:30 am Monday through Friday.
Summer Hours end tomorrow at the Dental Library. The Dental Library will reopen on Sundays, starting August 4th and will be open until 8 pm Sunday through Thursday.

The LSUHSC New Orleans Medical School departments of Obstetrics/Gynecology, Urology, and Dermatology have loaned portraits of former department heads to the John P. Isché Library.
The portraits are located on the 3rd floor of the library near the faculty publications display, the reference desk, and the printing station.
These portraits are being displayed on a temporary basis. Come visit the library and take a look!

The LSUHSC New Orleans campuses will remain closed on Thursday, July 11th through Sunday, July 14th ahead of the anticipated tropical weather over the next few days. We plan to reopen on Monday morning.
Due to flooding in the area, the Library and campus is now closed.
Unless notified to the contrary, we will resume normal hours on Thursday, July 11th at 7:30am.

The Libraries will have Summer Hours for the months of June and July. The Isché Library will close at 10pm Sunday-Thursday and at 6pm on Fridays. Opening times and Saturday hours will remain the same. The Dental Library will close at 6pm Monday-Thursday and will be closed on weekends. The Dental Library will continue Summer Hours through Thursday, August 1st.
