And we’re back! Both the Dental and Isché Libraries are open!

Both Libraries are now closed for Winter Break. All online library resources are available even if we aren’t.The Library Commons (downtown) should be available at all times, unless the building is closed for some reason.

Winter Break Hours

The Isché Library will begin Winter Break Hours on Sunday, December 17th and will be open from 12 noon to 8:30 pm. From Monday, December 18th through Friday, December 22nd, the Isché Library will be open from 8am to 6pm.

The Dental Library will begin Winter Break Hours on Monday, December 18th and will continue through Friday, December 22nd. The Dental Library will be open from 8am to 5pm.

Both Libraries will be closed Saturday, December 23rd through Tuesday, January 2nd for the University Holiday.

Faculty Publications Spotlight for December

A new selection of articles has been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. They can be viewed in the Reference area, on the wall between the main entrance and the Library elevator, on the third floor of the Resource Center Building.

Thanksgiving Hours

Both the Dental and Isché Libraries will be open regular hours Monday and Tuesday (November 20th and 21st) of Thanksgiving week. Both Libraries will close early on Wednesday, November 22nd, Dental at 5pm and Isché at 6pm. The Libraries will be closed Thursday through Saturday, November 23rd through 25th. And will reopen on Sunday, November 26th with normal business hours.

Every Necessary Care and Attention: George Washington and Medicine

LSUHealth – New Orleans Libraries is proud to present Every Necessary Care and Attention: George Washington and Medicine. The display includes six banners from the National Library Medicine as well as local articles, books, and archival material. The display will be at Isché Library November 13 – Dec 1 and the Dental Library Dec 4 – Dec 21.

Downtown Library Bookdrop

Due to some maintenance on the elevated walkways this past weekend, the Downtown Library bookdrop has been moved to the other side of the vending machines. When maintenance is complete, it may move back to its original location.

Its Alive! Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature

It was dark as the wind and the rain tapped on her window in 1816. It was on that night that Mary Shelly acclaimed author of gothic fiction penned Frankenstein. To commemorate that evening, the National Library of Medicine online exhibition, Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature explores the applied discipline of biomedical engineering and its attempt to challenge the understanding of what it means to human. Campus Closure – Nate

The Isché Library will close at 7pm this evening and remain closed all weekend in preparation for Hurricane Nate.

The Dental Library will close at 5pm as usual and remain closed all weekend as well.

Both Libraries plan on reopening at 8am on Monday, October 9th weather permitting.

LSU Health Sciences Center Joins The Fight

It can take the lives of both women and men. It does not favor a race or ethnicity. It’s breast cancer, and it affects us all.

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It is our time to celebrate the lives taken by this disease and to fight with the survivors and caregivers to find a cure.

So, don’t forget to wear pink, participate in an awareness walk, donate, and show your support toward a disease that affects so many.

Ische Library Early Closure Friday 9/8/17

The water will be shut off in the Resource Center Building at 6pm on Friday, September 8th. Both the Isché Library and the Library Commons will be closed during the outage. Water should be restored by 11pm. The Isché Library will be open regular hours on Saturday, September 9th.
