This weekend, ProQuest has scheduled a Maintenance Window that will affect all RefWorks services for a few hours.
The Maintenance Window is scheduled to start at 11pm CST, ?áSaturday, May 5th.
The work should take about 5 hours, ending at ?á4:00 AM CST, Sunday, May 6th.
While this work takes place, RefWorks services including RefMobile, RefAware, and Write-N-Cite will be unavailable.?á In their place, we will post a message that will be updated with any changes to the Maintenance Window schedule.?á There will be a short period of up to one hour when even this message will not be available.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Just a quick update, some of our RefWorks users ?ámay receive an email from RefWorks-COS Support Services [support@refworks-cos.com]?árequesting them to update their RefWorks username this week. (I did!)
This is legitimate – RefWorks is moving everyone to unique user names in order to simplify the login process. They suggest using your email as a new username, but that is not required. So if you’re like me, and use something like librarygrrrl42* as a username, well, go right ahead.

We are asking RefWorks users – like you – who have the same login name as a RefWorks user at a different institution to select a new login name.
This change will enable us to streamline access for you and others by eliminating Group Codes during the log in process.
Changing your login name takes only a few seconds:
Log in to RefWorks
Click on the “Update Profile Link” in the upper right corner?á Choose a new log-in name (we recommend using your email address)
RefWorks, our free Web-based bibliography and database manager which can format a paper and bibliography for you, has some improvements scheduled for the near future:
December 31st, 2011: “Classic” interface goes away. (This only matters if you are an old-school power user.)
January 2012: Group Code no longer needed to login to RefWorks off campus. (It will, however, still be needed to create a RefWorks account off campus.) FAQ
Spring 2012: Updated version of Write-n-Cite will be available.
The new version of Write-N-Cite will run on Word for Windows 2007 & 2010 as well as Word for Mac 2008 & 2011. You’ll get the same features on either platform, and sharing documents between computers is as easy as opening a file. More.

If you have already created Refworks personal databases, please convert to the RefWorks 2.0 as soon as possible and take advantage of the cleaner, more intuitive interface. Not familiar with Refworks? Create a new log-in (free) and begin managing your references with RefWorks 2.0.
RefWorks 2.0 allows you to manage your references anywhere you have access to the Internet!
You can:
ÔÇó Search PubMed (within RefWorks)
ÔÇó Directly import your selected PubMed citations
ÔÇó Store your references in folders (including attaching the full-text of the article)
ÔÇó Share your references with your collaborators
ÔÇó Add your references as you type a paper (write-n-cite)

Refworks announced that its Alumni Program will be standard for all of the 1200 universities subscribing to its service. As long as the Libraries at LSUHSC New Orleans subscribe to RefWorks then our alumni will have access to their bibliographies & will be able to use the full functionality of RefWorks.
