The LibKey Nomad browser extension, previously only available for Chrome, can now be installed in Vivaldi, Brave, and Microsoft Edge browsers. This nifty tool enhances PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, and makes getting to the full-text of articles easy.
These newly-supported browsers allow installations from the Chrome Web Store. To install and configure the extension, follow the instructions we have available on the LibKey Nomad section of our BrowZine Libguide or see it in action on our LibKey Nomad installation video.
Please note that for Microsoft Edge you will need to allow extensions from the Chrome Web Store in order to use LibKey Nomad.
Also, since Chrome is now the default browser in Citrix, you can install LibKey Nomad to use there as well. We have a video that walks you through that process.

UPDATE: As of Wednesday morning, June 24th, the issues with EBSCO products have been resolved. If you encounter any problems, please contact us.
We are currently experiencing problems getting to all resources we get from EBSCO. This affects CINAHL, the Discovery Service, any other EBSCOhost databases, the E-Books & E-Journals A to Z List, as well as any links to EBSCO eBooks and journals on EBSCOhost.
Services are working intermittently, but we will update when the problems have been resolved.

We are currently experiencing problems accessing all Thieme resources through EZproxy. The publisher has been contacted regarding this issue.
If you are on campus, everything works fine.
When off campus, you can access Thieme books and journals by logging in directly using OpenAthens. For Thieme MedOne Education, use this link. The Thieme ebook Clinical Collections and all journals can be found at this link.
Once clicking either link, you will be asked to provide your full LSUHSC-NO e-mail and current password if you have not yet logged in.

Beginning Monday, June 15th, the Isché Library will be open from 8am to 8pm Monday-Thursday, 8am to 6pm on Friday, 9:30am to 6pm on Saturday, and 11:30am to 8pm on Sunday. These hours will be maintained throughout phase 2 of the campus reopening.
Please note that all both the downtown and Dental campuses are still limited to badge holders, except for clinics.
A new selection of articles have been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. With the currently changes, we’ve decided to post the publications digitally. Check out the display below:
Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Reference Librarian Kathy Kerdolff and is available to the general public here or via the Library’s webpage. Thieme has resolved issues with off-campus access to Thieme MedOne Education and the Q&A module for histology.

Original post: We are having technical difficulties with remote access for our Thieme MedOne Education ebooks collection. There is a workaround though, so please see below for the best way to access this resource. MedOne Education is a collection of over 100 basic and clinical science ebooks in subjects like anatomy, biochemistry, dentistry, immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, otorhinolaryngology, physical therapy, and more. There is also a new Q&A module for histology. Check it out if you haven’t already.
Step 1 – Start at the Thieme MedOne Education web page: https://medone-education.thieme.com/ and sign in using OpenAthens:

The LSUHSC School of Public Health hosts virtual lectures via Zoom on the first Friday of the month at 3pm.
In June the lecture will be: COVID19 and Why Epidemiology Matters, presented by Susanne Straif-Bourgeois with special guest Megan Sutton.
“On June 5, we’ll introduce you to Dr. Susanne Straif-Bourgeois. A noted epidemiologist, she has been an often sought guest on television and radio for her take on the COVID 19 crisis. Dr. Straif-Bourgeois will be speaking about what her experience with the current pandemic has taught her about the importance of epidemiology in general and how that shapes the future of Public Health from here on out.
We’ll also speak with Meagan Sutton, a recent MPH graduate from our school. Megan has been using her epidemiology background to conduct routine surveillance and will continue to assist with projects in response to the COVID-19 pandemic through the Louisiana Department of Health.”
The Dental Library will expand its Phase 1 hours to Monday-Thursday from 8am to 2pm.
The Ische Library continues to be open Monday-Friday from 8am to 6pm and Saturdays from 9:30am to 6pm and Sundays from 11:30am to 8pm.

A new, counseling text line is now available to provide free, confidential, 24/7 support for people in crisis. All someone has to do is text REACHOUT (all caps together) to 741741 to connect to a trained crisis counselor who will help individuals de-escalate, identify coping strategies and who will use active listening techniques.
