Due to ongoing preparations for the new version of the Discovery/EDS Health search, there is now a link to “View Retraction” for the majority of search results and on the full display of citations when using the Discovery service or the search box from the Library’s home page:
Please note: the referenced article has probably not been retracted. If you click the “View Retraction” link and the screen is blank, there is most likely no retraction applicable to that article.
The LibKey products can help in identifying retracted articles. Please see this post for the indicators when an article is retracted.

The LibKey Nomad browser extension that makes getting articles and using databases such as PubMed easy is now available for the desktop version of Safari.

Last week the Chancellor’s Excellence award winners were announced and the Libraries’ own Rebecca Bealer was one of the recipients!
Rebecca has worked for the LSUHSC Libraries since 1996 in a variety of rolls. Most importantly for the campus, she was the team lead on rolling out our current off campus management system in 2018. She also is in charge of all the serials/journals for both of our libraries AND is a Mac expert on campus.

If you are moving to the CALS building, please note that there will be a change to how you access Library resources. Due to the network that is used in CALS, it will appear as if you are off campus.
For those moving from the MEB in particular, if you’re used to going to sites directly without using Library links to do so, you will run into trouble getting resources as your new connection will not be seen as being truly on campus.
To ensure you’re recognized by resource providers as publishers as having access, it is best to use the links we have to databases, books, and journals. Using our links makes sure you’re authenticated and will not run into paywalls along the way. You can find these links in a variety of places: the Library’s web site, the Library catalog, the E-Journals & E-Books A to Z List, and our databases list. If you’ve not authenticated, you will be asked to log in using either your LSUHSC-NO email, a Library-issued barcode, or your network username. More information about logging in can be found on our Off Campus LibGuide.
A handy tool to help you navigate the minefield of authentication and access is the LibKey Nomad browser extension. It displays quick links to articles along with prompting for authentication when needed. It can be used in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, and Vivaldi browsers.
Another quick way to get to articles is the LibKey.io quick DOI and PMID lookup tool. All you need to do is plug in a PMID or DOI and let LibKey.io not only lead to the article, or options to get it, but it also ensures you’re signed in when needed. We have more information about this tool on our LibKey.io LibGuide.

Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. With the currently changes, we’ve decided to post the publications digitally. Check out the display below:
Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Metadata & Digital Projects Librarian Andrew Olinik.

ORIGINAL POST August 5, 2022: If you are trying to access ClinicalKey using any link that has https://ezproxy.lsuhsc.edu/login?url= as the prefix, it is currently not working. This will affect all off campus access, as well as using ClinicalKey through the VPN, Citrix, or on campus when logged into the LSUHSC-Secure wireless network.

On Thursday evening, Wolters Kluwer — Ovid — will be performing scheduled maintenance on their journals platform.
Starting at 11:00 PM NOLA time, you will be unable to access the journals provided via Ovid for about 45 minutes. The provider will try to limit the downtime as much as possible.

Bates’ Visual Guide includes over 200 streaming videos on physical examination, communication and interpersonal skills, and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) clinical skills.
