The Isché Library will close early or be closed over Mardi Gras weekend; it will close at 5pm on Friday, February 25th and Monday, February 28th. Also, the Isché Library will be closed Saturday and Sunday, February 26th and 27th.
Both the Dental and Isché Libraries will be closed on Tuesday, March 1st. And will reopen at their reduced level on Wednesday, March 2nd.
The Dental Campus including the Dental Library is closed for the day. A water main that is receiving emergency repair by SWB New Orleans has shutdown water to the campus. The Dental Campus plans to reopen tomorrow at regular time.
The Dental Librarians and Dental Library Staff are available via their emails and chat, if assistance is needed.

A new collection has been added to the LSUHSC Digital Collection, the Robert Simmons Photograph Collection. The Robert Simmons collection features historical photographs of the fifth and building of the sixth Charity Hospitals, hidden camera photographs taken before cell phones, and the professors that taught the professors that taught your professors. Robert Simmons captured images of his time at LSU School of Medicine as a student and at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center as a professor. These images feature descriptions that were orally provided by Robert Simmons and feature a unique perspective of the school. Take a look and see if there’s anyone you recognize! Scopus developers have fixed the sorting issue in Citation Overview. If you continue to have problems, please contact the library.

The sorting functions are not working in Scopus Citation Overview. The Scopus developers are working on the problem. Citations can be exported and then sorted using Excel. Sorting in the regular results display is not affected.
We will update this blog post once the problem has been fixed.
UPDATE: The problem appears to be fixed, so all links to ClinicalKey from any Library resources should work correctly. Please contact us if you have trouble.
Links from the Library’s catalog, E-Journals & E-Books A to Z List, and the EDS Health Discovery service to books and journals in ClinicalKey are currently not working. This problem is affecting all ClinicalKey customers.

A new selection of articles have been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. With the currently changes, we’ve decided to post the publications digitally. Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Reference Librarian Kathy Kerdolff and will be available to the general public here or via the Library’s webpage. A PDF of a bibliography of this month’s addition will be available here. If you have an article you would like us to highlight or if you have any questions regarding the display or the database, you can contact Kathy Kerdolff.

Carolyn K. Bridgewater, MLIS, MSW, AHIP is on leave until her retirement on March 1, 2022. Carolyn has been part of the Research & Education (formerly Reference) Department since 1993. Prior to her appointment as a Librarian, she worked in the Circulation Department as an Associate from 1989-1992 while completing her Masters in Library Science.
Carolyn was the liaison to the School of Allied Health Professions and had also served as liaison to the School of Public Health. She coordinated library instruction for many years and served on numerous professional organization committees and boards. She was the PI for the Library’s Outreach Grant through NNLM from 2006-2016.
She will be missed!

The elevated walkway over Bolivar Street will be closed from 6pm Friday, January 14th to 6pm Monday, January 17th
During this time, the Resource Center Building and the Library will be accessible from the 1st floor entrance only, via your LSUHSC ID. Most of the walkways will be closed over the long weekend, so please plan your visit accordingly.
The Libraries will be closed on Monday, January 17th in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday. Both the Dental and the Isché Libraries will reopen at 8am on Tuesday, January 18th. In addition, the Isché Library will be open from 9:30am-6pm on Saturday and 11:30am-8pm on Sunday as usual.

Paypaw (which controls printing and photocopying) in the Libraries and across campus will be unavailable on Monday, January 10th and Tuesday, January 11th for maintenance and upgrades.
This affects both the Downtown and Dental campuses.
The Isché Library has packs of KN-95 masks available for those in need of them. The masks will be located on the Circulation Desk in the front of the Library, and will be available during all Library hours.
As a reminder, it is campus policy that KN-95 masks are required indoors at all times in public and shared spaces. This includes all areas of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors within the Library.
