On July 25th we received a suggestion that we upgrade the WiFi in the Isché Library. The equipment was on the list for our IT department to replace as it was nearing end of life. IT sent out a staff person to walk through and do a survey of signal strength on all three floors and took note of all issues.
Today, August 14, 2024, all equipment has been replaced and some equipment has been shifted for better coverage. This was an accelerated timeline for IT to complete but they made their best effort to get this up before the Fall semester is fully in session.
We are happy to introduce our new Library Announcements email list! We will send out information about Library news, classes, and resources, but with no more than five posts per month.
A new selection of articles has been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Isché Library. These eight articles, as well as all the articles in LSU Health Digital Scholar, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. Check out the display below:
LSUHSC Digital Scholar is an institutional repository and is a service of the LSU Health Science Center Libraries. Research and scholarly output included here has been selected and deposited by the Libraries, as well as individual university departments and centers on campus.
Publications cited in LSU Health Digital Scholar are harvested from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles, they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. You can access LSU Health Digital Scholar at https://digitalscholar.lsuhsc.edu/.
If you have an article that you would like us to highlight or if you have any questions regarding the display or the database, you can contact our Librarians at reference@lsuhsc.edu.
The Isché Library returns to its regular hours, Thursday, August 1st. The Library is open from 7:30am to 11pm Monday-Thursday, 7:30am to 6pm on Friday, 9:30am to 6pm on Saturday, and 9:30am to 11pm on Sunday.
The Dental Library returned to regular hours on July 1st.
University IT has updated the EndNote download site, on July 22, 2024. There are instructions for installing EndNote21 on your personal computer or on campus InTune computers. If you have an older campus computer, you may need to create a ticket with your local supporter. EndNote is now available for all faculty, staff and students thanks to an annual subscription courtesy of University IT.
The Libraries have created a Resource Guide to support EndNote, as well as RefWorks, an alternate citation manager.
The Libraries have created a new LibGuide covering citation manager software, such as EndNote and RefWorks. This new LibGuide also contains video tutorials and text guides on how to use EndNote and RefWorks. It also contains information on the process of installing EndNote to your PC, and signing up for a RefWorks account. The LibGuide can be found here: Citation Managers.
The hyperlinks above will take you to our catalog pages, where you can see an overview of the book. You can then click on the “Access” links to go to Ovid, or you can access the full ebook collection from our Database page.
The Libraries have put out comment boxes in the Libraries for faculty, staff, and students to share their comments, questions, suggestions, and concerns about the Libraries. We have them conveniently located in multiple places: the Library Commons, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the Isché Library, and at the front desk of the Dental Library. Comments can be submitted with the paper slip, or digitally by scanning the QR code. We would love to hear from you!
The Libraries will be offering two classes in July! The first class is Writing a Data Management Plan: How and Why on Thursday, July 11th at 2PM. Sign up for the Zoom, or attend the class in person at room 405 in the Isché Library!
The second class is an EndNote Demonstration on Thursday, July 18th at noon. This class is a collaboration with our IT department as a part of their IT Office Hours series. This will only be offered via Zoom, which you can sign up for here: July 2024 IT Office Hours
