A new selection of articles have been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. With the currently changes, we’ve decided to post the publications digitally. Check out the display below:
Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Reference Librarian Kathy Kerdolff and is available to the general public here or via the Library’s webpage. A PDF of a bibliography of this month’s additions will soon be available here. If you have an article you would like us to highlight or if you have any questions regarding the display or the database, you can contact Kathy Kerdolff.
With no parades happening this year, the Libraries will maintain their current hours, except that the Isché Library will close at 6pm on Lundi Gras (February 15th) at 6pm.
Both Libraries will be closed for Mardi Gras (February 16th), as this is a university holiday. Go eat some king cake and check out some House Floats and stay safe!
If you use any of the ProQuest Databases (Nursing & Allied Health Database, Dissertations & Theses, etc.) off campus, you have probably encountered a problem when you attempt to export or email citations. Proquest requires you to complete a ReCAPTCHA challenge but it cannot be accomplished through our off campus access.
You must create a “My Research” account in ProQuest in order to email or export from the databases while off campus. Creating the account is very easy – only one step. You can even link your RefWorks account to your My Research account for even easier citation exports.
An emergency plumbing repair is scheduled for Wednesday evening, February 10th. This will include cutting out a large cast iron pipe so it will be both noisy and smelly while the work is being conducted. This will happen on the 5th floor of the Isché Library in the corner closest to Bolivar and Gravier. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you have already registered, and you are not able to see the question banks for LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans, please contact the library for assistance. You can check your access by going to “Add/Manage Question Bank Favorites”.
If you see LSU Health Science Center – New Orleans, you are good to go.
If you see Louisiana State University – Shreveport, your access is not correct and we will need to have BoardVitals correct your account.

We are still experiencing some technical difficulties with our Board Vitals subscription. It seems that most of the issues are with relatively new accounts.

There is a plumbing issue on the 5th Floor of the Library. As a result of the measures that will need to be taken to fix the problem, there will be a lot of noise and movement on the floor for the foreseeable future.
Journals have been relocated in order to accommodate the necessary demolition and repairs. If you need assistance retrieving a print journal for anything from Journal of Toxicology Toxin Reviews through Journal of Vascular Surgery or Tissue and Cell through Virchows Archiv, please ask Library staff for assistance.
Also, please avoid sitting in the immediate area as it will not be conducive to studying.
All of this has been caused by coffee grounds poured down a sink. The moral of this story, then, is to find more appropriate places to dispose of coffee grounds other than a sink because you never know what it might cause.

The Louisiana Department of Health has launched COVID Defense which uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology to track potential COVID-19 exposures. It collects no personal data and does not track your location. The more people in our area who use the app, the more helpful it will be. It is available in both the App Store and Google Play.
The Library was able to add a current subscription to and purchase the available backfiles for ASHA Perspectives. You can now read all of the Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups from 2016 to present.
You can also access the archives of all 19 sections of the ASHA Special Interest Groups. Most are available for 1997 through 2015.
