DeBlieux to Lead LSU Health Advanced Education and Simulation

“Dr. DeBlieux will work with the offices of Undergraduate Medical Education, Graduate Medical Education, Interprofessional Education, and with all LSU Health New Orleans schools to plan, develop, and implement clinical training and assessment programs in the Center for Advanced Learning and Simulation (CALS) standardized patient center, simulated emergency room, and medical simulation center.,” noted Dr. Richard DiCarlo, Interim Dean of LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine.
He will also help develop community outreach programs that utilize the CALS resources and work with the LSU Health Foundation to raise funds for equipment and operations in the CALS training centers. As a full-time faculty member, DeBlieux will also continue clinical work at University Medical Center in the Emergency Department and the Medical Intensive Care Unit.DeBlieux earned his medical degree at LSU Health New Orleans, where he also completed an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Emergency Medicine. He completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine with LSU Health at Charity Hospital before joining the full-time faculty. He served in numerous roles, including as Program Director for Emergency Medicine and Director of Emergency Medical Services for the Medical Center of Louisiana. He became a gratis faculty member in 2015 when he was appointed Chief Medical Officer and then the first Chief Experience Officer at University Medical Center.
DeBlieux has been recognized by students and residents as an outstanding teacher, and he has won numerous teaching awards. He has been very involved in the community and has served on many Mayoral task forces and charitable organizations. He was the medical liaison for the NFL Visiting Team, Medical Director of Homeless Healthcare for Harry Tompson Health Services, and continues to serve as Executive Director of the Spirit of Charity Foundation.“I am excited to invest in the next generation of healthcare providers to raise the quality of care we offer all of our patients in our community and state,” DeBlieux says.
