Ozanam Inn is a non-profit, direct service agency serving the homeless and needy of greater New Orleans, regardless of race, color, creed, religious preference or national origin. All of its services are provided free-of-charge. The Inn was established in 1955 by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay service organization dedicated to helping the poor.
LSU Health New Orleans medical students and faculty expanded their Student-Run Homeless Clinic to include Ozanam Inn, and then were joined by LSU Health New Orleans dental students and faculty. Every Saturday, under faculty supervision, LSU Health New Orleans medical and dental students take care of this vulnerable population. They treat about 500 individuals a year, people who would probably not receive care otherwise.
It’s all part of LSU Health New Orleans’ tradition of service and giving back, which begins at enrollment.
