This position will work in a support staff capacity in a transient position (24 hours and 15 minutes a week). This person is to function as an Opening Transient for the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – Shreveport (LSUHSC-S) Library. This person must be a minimum of 18 years old. While Library experience is not required, demonstrated clerical skills, Microsoft Office knowledge and customer service experience are preferred. The weekday hours of this position are Monday – Friday 7:15 am – 12:00 pm.
The basic duties of this position include, but are not limited to, checking library materials in and out, shelving materials, keeping book and journal shelves in order, scanning/copying documents for interlibrary loan, assisting library patrons, and performing other basic computer work. Additional responsibilities include opening and/or closing the library as required. This position may assist the library Archivist with digitizing and processing materials.
This transient worker is assigned up to 24 hours and 15 minutes per week, however, longer or shorter shifts may be assigned depending on library coverage needs. The hours listed above are mandatory. However, there may be opportunities to work additional hours during special projects. (Employee Shuttle time to and from parking is NOT included in the scheduled hours. Shifts over 5 hours require a half an hour lunch which is not paid).
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
