As a part of LSU Health’s commitment to support the City of New Orleans and the New Orleans Sports Foundation’s efforts to host a successful Super Bowl LIX here, there will be several parking lot closures and street closures that will impact parking on our campus beginning Sunday, January 12, 2025.
We understand that these temporary changes may be inconvenient and appreciate your understanding and patience during this time as LSU Health assists our city in hosting this high-profile event near our campus. Although the NFL is paying to use these campus parking lots, we expect that our expenses in making the necessary temporary parking and security arrangements will exceed the NFL payment, and LSU Health is not anticipating any profit from this partnership.
Below are details on the temporary parking changes which will accommodate all those who park in the impacted lots between now and late February. During this time period, violators of parking guidelines will be ticketed in an effort to accommodate all who need to park.
If you need weekend access to campus for essential business from Friday, February 7 at 6 pm – Monday, February 10 at 1 am, please fill out the attached form and send to park@lsuhsc.edu or route to Parking Services, RCB Room 158 by end of day on February 5. The only available places to park on campus will be the Roman St. and Gravier St. Garages. This form will get you a parking pass to park in either of these garages for the weekend, which will be available for pickup February 6-7.
The Roman St. Garage will be the best place for parking during this weekend, and all passholders are allowed to park anywhere including reserved spots in the garages from Friday, February 7 at 6 pm – Monday, February 10 at 1 am.
Both the weekend parking pass as well as your LSU Health parking decal are needed to park on campus during this weekend. We ask that anyone accessing campus over the weekend approach from Tulane Ave. to S. Roman St., and navigate campus via the elevated walkways.
Beginning on Friday, February 7 at 6 pm, the CALS Building, including the Wellness Center will close with no access until normal operations resume on Monday, February 10.
The John P. Isché Library on the main campus will remain closed the weekend of the Super Bowl. While the main campus library will remain closed and unstaffed, the Moerschbaecher Library Commons on the third floor of the Resource Building will be open for students to work and study.
The Dental Library at 1100 Florida Ave. New Orleans, LA on the third floor of the Dental Administration Building is open to all students from 9:30 am-6 pm on Saturday and 11:30 am-8 pm on Sunday. Please park in the dental patient parking lot and enter through the Clinic Building, proceed to the third floor, and cross over to the Administration Building to access the Dental Library.
Beginning on January 12, Perdido Lots 2, 3, and 4 between Perdido Place (LSU Dorm) and The Residences will be closed.
Students who live in The Residences have exclusive access to park in Perdido Lot 1 on the corner of Perdido St. and Gravier St, with an entrance on Galvez St.
Perdido Lot 1 has 24/7 security to ensure safety and to restrict access to parking passholders only. The security team guarding Lot 1 will not allow unauthorized vehicles into the lot, to ensure there is space for Residences tenants.
Students, faculty, and staff who typically park in Perdido Lots 2, 3 and 4 have several options. All faculty and staff are encouraged to park in the Roman St. Garage during this time, and we strongly encourage anyone on campus after normal working hours to park in the Roman St. Garage. If parking is unavailable at any location, please park in the Gravier St. Garage.
- Gravier St. Parking Garage
- Perdido Lots 5 and 6
- Roman Street Garage
- The Roman St. Garage will close to student parkers at 8:30 am on weekdays. If students wish to park on levels 6-7 of the Roman St. Garage Monday-Friday, please arrive before 8:30 am.
- From 7:30 am-12 pm, faculty/staff on levels 2-7 and students on levels 6-7
- After 12 pm on weekdays and all hours on the weekend, the garage is open to all faculty, staff and students.
When parking in the Gravier St. Garage, please use the Walk to Wellness to navigate campus safely and to help deter unauthorized individuals from entering the garage by following through an external door.
To further enhance safety, we have recently upgraded all cameras in the Gravier St. Garage and LSU Police have added additional patrols in and around this garage.
From now until February 10, there will be significant and increasing street closures on and around campus. The best way to navigate to and from campus will be via Tulane Ave. Please use this interactive link to see which streets will close and when, so you can plan your routes accordingly.
If at any time you feel unsafe on campus, would like an escort, or need to make a report, please call our University Police at 504-568-8999 or utilize the call boxes on campus. There will be increased numbers of University Police during this time. Please remember to use the elevated walkways as much as possible.

Parking Services has rolled out the new campus parking guidance app, ‘Park LSU Health’. We have partnered with ParkZen, which uses crowdsourcing technology like Waze.
With your assistance, this app will reduce parking space search time by providing real time parking availability and finding open spaces. As the app’s success is dependent upon more users joining, the system will gradually become more accurate as more people utilize the app. As user downloads increase, Parking Services will use this app as their main tool to share parking notifications to our campus permit holders. Click here or use the below QR code to download the app.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Parking Services office at 504-568-4884.
