The WISE Survey was developed to assess and identify opportunities for improvement of the current health and wellness offerings of LSUHSC. The poll is conducted annually and includes questions that pertain to specific wellness services offered by LSU, which can be answered by faculty, staff, residents, and students. These questions include inquiries about the dining options in the cafeteria, fitness offerings in the Wellness Center, counseling services provided by the Campus Assistance Programs, or the Smoke-Free Campus initiative, among others. The primary aim of the WISE survey is to determine the satisfaction levels of the LSUHSC community with the services provided and to specific areas for improvement.

Wellness Through Mindfulness trainings focus on teaching individuals techniques and practices that promote mindfulness as a means to enhance overall well-being, stress resilience, and quality of life. Research even suggests beneficial effects in dealing with anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, chronic pain and diabetes. Mindfulness trainings incorporate elements of meditation, breathing exercises, and self-awareness practices to help participants cultivate a greater sense of presence and awareness in their daily lives. Dr. Jayashree Rao offers the LSU community eight mindfulness courses, each lasting one hour.

According to LSUHSC Policy CM-36, CAP offers Responsible Alcohol Server's Training to educate students, staff, residents, and faculty about responsible practices in handling alcohol and to ensure safety on campus. Essentially, alcohol is prohibited in all campus areas at all times. An exception exists only when alcohol is served during special events authorized by the Dean, Chancellor, or other authorized representatives on campus, and when the guidelines outlined in CM-36 IV are followed (CM-36 III). Completion of Responsible Server's Training is required by law for individuals employed in establishments where alcohol is served or sold. By promoting responsible alcohol service practices, the training aims to enhance public safety and reduce the negative impacts of alcohol misuse. After successfully completing the training and passing the test, participants receive the responsible vendor license for Louisiana, which is valid for 4 years. Due to the limited number of participants, registration for the course is mandatory. Just contact CAP at (504) 568-8888 or ast@lsuhsc.edu.
