Data Sharing Solutions
LSU Health New Orleans offers several data sharing solutions to help you collaborate and share information with others. Please review the solutions below to identify the one that best fits your use case. Each solution has its own benefits and limitations, so we encourage you to carefully consider your requirements before making a selection. LSU Health FileS can be used to:
- Send a file securely
- Send large files that may be too large to send by email
- Request a file
- Send to \ request from external users
- Available to all LSUHSC-NO, LSUHSC-SHV, and HCSD users
Microsoft OneDrive can be used to:
- Share and collaborate on files securely with internal users
- Provides 5 TB of storage per user
- Allows co-editing of Office documents
- Supports file versioning to restore to a previous version
Microsoft Teams can be used to:
- Share and collaborate on files securely with internal and external users
- External users must be added to an external affiliation before adding to a Microsoft Team
- Microsoft Team "Owners" manage access to a Microsoft Team on an ad-hoc basis
- Allows co-editing of Office documents
- Supports file versioning to restore to a previous version
- Provides many other collaboration features such as persistent chat, VoIP, meeting calls, integration with other MS 365 apps, ...
Microsoft SharePoint can be used to:
- Share and collaborate on files securely with internal and external users
- External users must be added to an external affiliation before adding to a Microsoft Team
- SharePoint site administrators coordinate with Information Security to manage access to SharePoint sites. This is ideal for sites that contain sensitive data.
- Allows co-editing of Office documents
- Supports file versioning to restore to a previous version
- Provides many other collaboration features
Globus can be used to:
- Transfer large volumes of research data internally or externally
- Share research data without creating temporary accounts or transferring data to an external storage system
- Improve security by avoiding duplication of data on cloud storage
