Questions about the Ceremony

The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at the UNO Lakefront Arena and will begin at 10 a.m.

Yes. Guests will be able to view the ceremony on the day of the event via the following link:  https://lsuh.sc/commencement

The estimated length of the fall ceremony is two hours.

Questions about the Venue

UNO Lakefront Arena is located at 6801 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122. Directions to the venue can be accessed via the following linkDirections to UNO Lakefront Arena  

Ample parking is available at the arena at no charge.  Parking attendants will be on-site to provide directional assistance.

Yes. The ADA entrance is Ground One. There is an elevator to access the seating area. Guests with mobility issues can ask attendants inside the Arena to direct them to the accessible seating. Due to limited space, guests who require ADA seating may have only one additional person accompanying them in the accessible seating area.

Questions for Graduates

The arrival time for all graduates is 8:30 a.m. All graduates need to be at the arena by 9:15 a.m.

The graduates will enter at the Auxiliary Gym. These doors are on the north side of the building, which is the Lakeshore side.

All graduates are required to wear official regalia. Regalia can be purchased via the link:  https://oakhallcg.com/pages/lsuhscsts

The deadline for purchasing regalia is Sunday, October 6, 2024. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Be mindful of the height of shoes with heels, as there are stairs to get on and off the stage. 

Students in the MD/PhD program receiving their MD wear Graduate Studies (dark blue) gowns & Medicine (green) hoods. MD/MPH students wear Medicine (green) gowns and hoods. Public Health PhD students wear Graduate Studies (dark blue) gowns and hoods.

Graduates are prohibited from decorating their academic regalia.  This policy was voted in by the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans Commencement Committee effective Spring 2024.

Yes! The Grad Team will take official graduation pictures of each student as they walk on stage. Graduates are required to self signup to receive photographs. Please sign up now via the following link: Louisiana State University Health Science Center New Orleans (LSUHSC) – The Grad Team

Yes, students are required to bring their reader cards to the stage. Reader cards will be given to graduates on the day of the ceremony.

Summer graduates participate in the fall ceremony only. Fall graduates are only eligible to participate in the December ceremony, while spring graduates are only eligible to participate in the ceremony that is held in May.

Questions for Guests

No, tickets are not required to attend the ceremony.

No. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

 Doors will open to guests at 9 a.m.

Ramp 1 and Ramp 4 are the guest entrances.

The order in which degrees are presented are as follows: School of Allied Health Professions, School of Nursing, School of Public Health, School of Graduate Studies, School of Dentistry, then School of Medicine. Degrees are awarded in the following order in each school: Bachelor’s, Master’s, then Doctoral.

About Diplomas

No. All financial obligations must be met before diplomas are released.

Digital diplomas are available on the day after the ceremony. You can access this through your email on file. Printed diplomas are mailed out 2-4 weeks after the ceremonies to the mailing address on file. 

Access to digital diplomas will be available to graduates indefinitely. You will need to have a personal email address on file since you will not always have access to your LSUHSC email account. Please log into your self-service portal and enter your personal email address into the email field labeled "other." Please update this information in the system before the commencement ceremony. Transcripts

Your degree will be posted on your transcript within five business days after the ceremony.
