Immigration Sponsorship
LSUHSC is authorized as a J Exchange Visitor Program Sponsor in multiple categories (Student and Scholar) and is also an SEVP (F) Certified School.
LSUHSC employees may also be eligible for sponsorship in various nonimmigrant, employer specific statuses, such as H1B, O-1 and TN.

Medical Residents/Fellows
Foreign National physicians who wish to complete their Medical Residency training through LSUHSC who do not already possess appropriate full time work authorization MUST obtain J-1 sponsorship from: The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
Note: LSUHSC does NOT currently provide immigration sponsorship for foreign national Medical Residents.

The Office of International Services is not authorized to assist employees or students with Permanent Residency petitions/applications that are not sponsored by LSUHSC New Orleans.

Diversity Lottery:
The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program makes available up to 50,000 diversity visas (DVs) annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
The DV lottery usually opens on the first Tuesday of October following October 1, the beginning of the federal government's fiscal year. Applications are usually accepted for thirty days.
